oliver2-44 9,683 #1 Posted May 1, 2019 I picked up this polished aluminum horse head recently. It's 8" tall, plus the base. So it might be a little big for a hood ornament. Now I did say might, so time will tell. With the base maybe it was intended to be a trophy that never got engraved. I think it needs about a 10" dia tire to make into a Redsquare style horse. So what creative ideas, do ya'll have for it?
WHX?? 48,776 #2 Posted May 1, 2019 First thought Jim is to make one of those horse head hitching posts? 1
ebinmaine 67,271 #3 Posted May 1, 2019 I'm mostly chiming in just because I want to say I'm going to follow along and see what happens here. But also because there's really just no way that a 10in anything is too big for a hood ornament. If you put something on the hood of your tractor that crushes the weight of the steel or is so big that you have to physically move your body sideways to look around at either direction then maybe you went a little too far. 1
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #4 Posted May 1, 2019 I would say square it off at the bottom to make it shorter in height. Then put on the hood. 2
formariz 11,987 #5 Posted May 1, 2019 Too large for the top of hood but not for in front of hood possibly coming off frame directly in front of hood. 1
wallfish 16,984 #6 Posted May 1, 2019 It might be too big for a tractor hood but not for the hood of your Bentley (or pick up truck) 1 1
Sarge 3,463 #7 Posted May 2, 2019 It might actually look ok on a big D if you squared off the bottom. Not sure if it could help the looks of a D, or possibly - make it worse. Sarge
