Sparky-(Admin) 21,403 #30 Posted May 4, 2019 So the weather was perfect, not crazy hot and NOT A SINGLE RAINDROP all day! The show grounds did however have a few muddy spots that the young kids were just tearing up on small tractors. Spent the day hanging with John and Russ @wallfish ... @SALTYWRIGHT ...I dragged three tractors with me so we all had something to cruise on together. It also kept our boots clean ! Real good turnout considering the unstable weather forecast we had during the week. John and I were not in the market for anything so no pressure to find some elusive part. Russ needed a small one gallon metal fuel tank which we scored early on. Wasn’t my birthday or anything like that but John had brought me a WH coffee mug. Russ knows about my flashlight collection habit and brought me the oddest flashlight ever. Hope this flashlight doesn’t get me booted off this forum . John and I discovered a McCormick/ Farmall graveyard...it’s been there for years but Ive never really noticed it before. Here’s a few pics.... 4 2
AMC RULES 37,134 #31 Posted May 4, 2019 Liked everything shown above Mike...except, well, you know. Thanks for sharing everything except that.
953 nut 55,753 #32 Posted May 4, 2019 John, you old potato picker you. Do you know how to operate that contraption. That needs to be shipped to @Aldon, after all he is in potato country.
wallfish 17,079 #33 Posted May 4, 2019 Absolutely no idea what it was. Mike and I went off the beaten (and muddy) path today and climbed around on some stuff like little kids. One thing I like about Zagray Museum is they actually put the money back in to museum and lots of their members donate time to get a lot of stuff running. It's constantly evolving. They just put up a new building which is the size of a football field.

Sparky-(Admin) 21,403 #36 Posted May 4, 2019 There is always a bunch of old digging equipment running. No hydraulics, all cable operated. I took a couple videos, hopefully they work for ya @AMC RULES ...you would love this stuff!! 520AFE4A-8DB8-47F3-8975-ED7A0D48B54A.MOV F2D238F4-18E9-41B3-BF1C-01590CAD335D.MOV
wallfish 17,079 #37 Posted May 5, 2019 In Mike's first video, the old timer was teaching a young man (looked to be about 17 years old) how to operate it. We climbed in one of the non runners and there was levers every where and foot controls. I bet those guys running that stuff back then got worn out by the end of a work day.
JCM 9,362 #38 Posted May 5, 2019 Glad you guy's had a nice day and no rain to contend with? My dad was never in the best of mood's when he came home from work after operating those Shovel's all day loading Blasted Rock, but was paid well for his efforts. Thank you very much for those video's Mike, much appreciated.
AMC RULES 37,134 #39 Posted May 5, 2019 I can attest, the times haven't changed. Even though our equipment has improved, excavation work still puts a whoppin' on the poor human body.
