giantsean 59 #1 Posted April 28, 2019 Hey All, Have a 54" snow plow for my D-200 which I'm using now for grading dirt. I currently do not have the float pin installed in the lift arm (ie it's floating now) and it seems to work ok but it will still of course move around with the motions of the frame. In what situation do you want a plow NOT to float? Would it work better for dirt if I put the pin in? Thx!

Yes, Grading dirt and or the need for down pressure It'll scrape off the high spots and allow it to fill the low spots better when it's stationary. It's good for scraping off a top layer with some down pressure applied. Tilt of the blade helps as well. Tilted back will dig in more while forward will scrape more. A final back drag in float with the blade tilted all the way back will spread material evenly. Experiment with different things and you'll get the hang of what works best for you 1 2
giantsean 59 #4 Posted May 7, 2019 (edited) Hey so one more question... will putting the lock pin in cause any undue stress on the lift cylinder, say if the blade gets forced up or otherwise subject to upward pressure by something it can't...sorry... plow through? Asking as I have lots of rocks in this dirt and it gets a little bouncy. Edited May 7, 2019 by giantsean
