bc.gold 3,403 #1 Posted April 27, 2019 One of my neighbors is clearing a home site to build a new house when an Olds 88 showed up, not near as pretty as the one below. I want the fender mascots. Next farm over I found this 1990 Silverado 4x4 with a blown engine that has sat for the past five years, paid $200.00 where she sits. The guy is looking for the keys, if he can not find them I'll have to remove the locking ignition so we can tow this beast home. I have a decent engine from another truck that a neighbor gave me and GM engines are easy to remove and replace.

Posted the Olds as a matter of interest, next time I'm out that way will take a few pictures of the actual car, what is left of it isn't all that impressive. There's also an old 50's Chevy cab and another old beater that I spotted this afternoon but did not walk over to see what it is. But will make the effort next time. The 90 Chevrolet as it is will be a bit of a project, the story behind it. Truck died coming back from Brandon they changed a head gasket and could not get her to run again. That was five years ago when the previous owner abandoned the truck at the mechanics shop and has since passed away, and they had little information on the PO. There was no registration papers inside the truck just a folder from the dealer with the guys name etc when he purchased the truck. My better half did a net search and came up with the obit, he passed away June of last year. Through the obit was able to contact a brother and he said that the family has no vested interest in the truck. Tomorrow I'm heading into the Motor Vehicle branch to see what is all entailed to re-register, I've had to do this twice before with UN-papered vehicles from when I lived in BC.
rjg854 11,350 #4 Posted April 27, 2019 For that Chevy pick-up, if you take the vin number to a dealer, I think they can make a new key for you. 1

Confirmed the dealer can cut a key from the Vin, they have to still get the code from GM though so it would probably be easier for me the swap the ignition switch out with another. Nearest dealer with a key cutting machine is an hour away from me.
Sarge 3,463 #6 Posted April 27, 2019 Don't discount the old Olds, parts of any shape or type are valuable as the number of cars from that era are being resurrected more than ever. Same with the old truck cab - guys want them for custom builds. Most likely, during a head gasket job they didn't set the distributor correctly, a common error with those trucks. Sarge Over the years have sold everything from vintage car/truck/tractor, small stationary engines sometimes just bits and peices, the most unusually item I ever sold was dryer lint. Been a power seller on fleabay three times and declined the fourth, have not sold anything for the past five years and have no plans of starting up again. I post pictures that maybe of interest to our forum members, if anyone gets excited about one I post I'll do my best to put you in contact with the owner or at best the registered corporation which often is just a numbered company that owns the land. As for the Chevy I'll have to change the game plan, since the truck is still in another persons possession ( 9/10ths) I need to take possession before proceeding with getting it registered into my name. bc.gold 3,403 #9 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) 57 maybe a 58 Ford Fairlane, 3 on the tree standard transmission, think its the 292 cid engine but no cross over exhaust pipe is throwing me off possibly the large 312 cid. My first road legal car was a 55, 272 cid 4 barrel with a standard transmission and a 4:11 diff. Been a Ford fan ever since. Sarge 3,463 #11 Posted May 8, 2019 Too bad about the Olds, few of those get restored but back in the day they were quite the fancy looking car. I always liked the Skyline and a few other of the Ford models - they were quite elegant for the time period and many times overlooked. Sarge
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #12 Posted May 8, 2019 I remember as a kid my dad had an Olds rocket 88. Very similar design as that one. But the hood ornament and the car was black. That one looks sweet. Glenn
