JCM 9,458 #1 Posted April 26, 2019 Would anyone Know what years these hubcaps were first introduced as an option for WH tractors and what models these were available for? Next question would be how scarce are they and if they were to be had how much should I expect to pay for them, roughly. Thanks.
ebinmaine 68,556 #2 Posted April 26, 2019 I don't have the answer but I'm curious to see what it is. Are we talking plain chrome? I don't think I have any fronts but there may be a set of 12" ones laying around here...
JCM 9,458 #3 Posted April 26, 2019 Good Morning Eric, Sorry I was not more specific, I do have 1 full set of Baby Moons on the 417-8 an another set of embossed on the 520-H, I was interested in the one's used on the earlier tractors that have the WH head & Wheel panted in Black & Red in the center of the chrome in 8" & 12". Thanks and have a great Friday.
ebinmaine 68,556 #4 Posted April 26, 2019 Ahhh.. The ones I have here are the plain chrome with the depression relief pressed into them. No paint.
953 nut 55,964 #5 Posted April 26, 2019 I seem to recall that 1969 was the first year for Logo hub caps. Take a look at this brochure, they don't show up in earlier ones. 2
ACman 7,621 #6 Posted April 26, 2019 If you’re just going for the older look and don’t want to pay up for a good original set you might want to try this route . Thanks to @Vinylguy and @Lane Ranger
WVHillbilly520H 10,374 #7 Posted April 26, 2019 Or old and new melded together...i actually got the idea from others on RS but went one step further by having them powder coated...
squonk 41,474 #8 Posted April 26, 2019 Biggest thing with hubcaps is that they rust quick. If you use the caps on a mowing tractor the clippings get into the cap and accelerate the process. Coat the inside with oil.
AMC RULES 37,134 #9 Posted April 26, 2019 (edited) There's that... plus the retaining clips gouge the crap out of your rims. It's not unusual to find very nice, complete sets of the original series, horse head logo hubcaps commanding upwards of $200 these days. If NOS...you can expect to easily double that figure.
