Shynon 7,459 #1 Posted April 23, 2019 Started rebuilding cylinders for my Ark loader. Pulled one cylinder apart went and go o rings. Put 1 1/2 ×1 3/4 ×1/8 oring on and it will not go in. Just cuts it. so i pulled the other curl cylinder apart and it appears to have flat rubber wiper? Ok so i decided to take apart the lift cylinders and they are different . They have 2 wipers and a o ring and inside the collar they move through has a wiper and an o ring, curl cylinders only have an o ring. Little pitted on the ends of most of the cylinders one has a scratch. Looking for input as to which direction I should go, continue rebuild or replace them?
WHX?? 48,788 #2 Posted April 23, 2019 Hmmm.. been down this road Tom .. I woulda thought just replace the whole thing if FF has them. Trying to find the the proper o rings or backers/wipers can be a a real PITA. Those rams look to be pretty pitted and will destroy a seal quickly. If the cylinders have any pitting they are trashed ... I would look for the whole assembly for the plug & play option.
JoeM 7,871 #3 Posted April 23, 2019 That's a pretty expensive deal. Can you put two together using the best parts and replace two with new? I looked at Bailey Hydraulics and welded replacement cylinders run about $150 each. Maybe use the new ones for the raise and rebuild on tilt?? Just thinking.
