Hydro Fluid Type Early Sundstrand

Recommended Posts

Houston we have a problem, mid 70's Sundstrand calls for 6 quarts type "A" transmission fluid which is now obsolete, what are you tractor fanatics using as a substitute.

Wrong fluid is causing the acceleration valve to stick.

After Sauer Danfoss  acquired Sundstrand they upgraded the hydraulic fluid list of recommended fluids..

I use Dex/Merc  Compatible with Dexron3 and earler.  no problem in 5 different tractors.  Use what ever you want Sundstrand built essentially the same pump/motor for several tractor brands. They all called for different fluids.  Hy/Tran JD20 motor oil ATF   take your pick.

Maybe Dexron 3 wasn't listed in this 1974 manual because it was not  created until 1993 ??
