Here's the only stock I have ever made.    This was a .69 caliber smooth bore brown bess flintlock kit that I received as a Christmas gift about 30 years ago.

The "kit " was a maple 2x4 and a box of castings.  After working all winter on it, I ended up with a cronic tennis elbow condition from all the hand work and this:

That is awesome. It has a really nice shape to it. Nice warm finish too.Did you ever fire it?

The stock has a Tung Oil finish and the steel parts were browned (rusted) with iodine.

I have fired it many times at paper, and have actually harvested two deer with it.  

   Being a smooth bore , with 90 grains of FF black powder pushing the patched round lead ball, it's range is limited to around 50 yds.

The bore diameter is just slightly larger than a 16 gage shotgun and it does pattern fairly well at 25 yds with #6 lead shot.
