In welding class today:

At the start I really didn't want to because I thought I would get burned by the sparks. But, once I got started, it was actually kind of easy and fun. So, I decided to make my own creation. Dad tore off the post so I could put it back. Check it out...I did this all by myself and I even signed it!

Now, back on the topic, Dad done this work on the tractor:

100_0701.jpg

Not perfect, but poor people have poor ways, really tightened up front axle of the tractor, though.

This came out okay.

This ain't too bad either.

Looking good Clay. You're going to learn a lot with this project.

Nice welding! I've never been able to weld thin stuff with a stick. Maybe I need to attend your dads class!

Your Dad's teaching you a skill that will stand you in good stead the rest of your life whether or not you become a welder by profession. I've always envied - and respected- those who can weld, and it sure looks like you're getting a good handle on it! Congratulations, young man! :omg::drool:

Lookin good there young man :omg:

Tell your Dad he has a very nice welding trailer set-up.

Poor people? I don't think so, aMom and Dad that take time to be with you and help you on projects [great projects at that] . In my book that shows a lot of love. And no amount of money can buy real love like that.

Poor--I'd say rich!! Teaching your own son is a very rewarding experience. Working side by side with your dad, is very rewarding also. The skills you learn now will last you a lifetime. Sounds pretty rich to me!! I think of my dad on almost everything I get my hands into. (how would he do it?) Those rims came out great. Did you use the E-tank on them?? I went with off white/almond color also. Bright white doesn't look that great to me. Just my 2cents.

Yes, we did use the eloctrolosis barrel. We have some questions regarding parts...

Part #5469 Hood latch knob, if ordered from parts dealer, would this be a close resemblance to the original or should we go with the one listed on ebay? (Hoping answer is parts dealer, it's a whole lot cheaper)

Part #5544 Brake lever assembly & knob, this shows discontinued on the parts website, is the knob removeable? My lever appears to possibly be broke at the connection. May post pics later and have you all confirm.

Have looked in every trash pile that I can think of, is anybody willing to sell and ship us an OEM steering wheel or direct us to someone who will, for the 856?

We will eventually post this in the wanted section of forum, if no luck is found here.

:omg:

Sad to say no. But it is not forgotten. Baseball, 4H, school, trying to get garden in between rains, both boys do all of this plus together they mow10 to twelve yards. Puddlejumper only takes care of two at the moment. But they are both adding to them still. And that doesnt even count me and mammas commitments. Hopefully we will get some painting done if we can get together long enough. Its finally looks like it may dryout for a day or two so dad cut hay yesterday so we have been volenteered again. But bare with us it will be done eventually.

I will quit whining and go do something now

That didn't sound like whining to me, it sounded like life got in the way of having fun with the tractor. The time will come again and the tractor isn't going anywhere. Enjoy your family while you're still all together.

:notworthy: Puddlejumper's Mom here, I screwed up and managed to delete all of the old photos from when Clay got his Wheelhorse and started working on it. I didn't realize that moving the photos into a new album on Photobucket would remove them from this post. I'm in the doghouse for that one. If anyone can tell me how to repost them in their original locations, I'd surely appreciate it!

Here are some progress photos:

Well, this isn't much progress, considering it's been 8 months since anything has been posted.

We welded up & milled all signs of wear on all shafts and control linkages. New bushing in steering gear.

The tractor tightened up really well......here are the photos:

And here is one of the things that stood in the way of progress:

Clay, the tractor is looking FANTASTIC!!!!

Clay's mom,

Maybe it would be a little easier to finish if it were in the living room (or spare room)... the paint would cure faster... AND, you wouldn't have to worry about Clay catching a cold... :notworthy:

Well, what was it I said.....restoring the peace, at least for a short time.....BOOM.....it's over!!!!

Bell, you don't know the oozing, pussing sore you just popped with that comment!! I spent an entire Sunday freeing my "supposed" living room of wheel horse parts and tools and other assorted SHED items!!

This I did on the "promise" that he (husband) would finish this ongoing (15 years) of remodeling that never seems to find a finish! :notworthy:

This is to be done once the christmas tree comes down, immediately upon opening presents....no excuses that way...... :

So, now you know, I swear, it's almost like you've been my best friend for some time the way that comment hit the nail on the head!
