Gear oil is thick so it will drain slow and the color is a clear indication of water in it as well.

That looks like a candidate for a diesel flush at minimum.

The new gear that I am mixing in to drain it faster, comes out fast.  This stuff looks like slow drip mud , whew glad I decided to look at it!

Interesting.. manual calls for 1.5 quarts and this thing is overflowing out of the fill plug @ 1quart..

It may be full of crap inside taking up volume. You prolly should flush it.

Agreed.

I'll put another vote to flush.

:text-yeahthat:                   Drain as much as you can, remove the shift lever, add at least two quarts of diesel oil  through the shift lever hole, drive it around in all gears for a while then drain it again. Buy a new shiter boot (that is where the water got in). Can't beat a good flush!

Be sure to jack up the front end of the tractor to get a complete draining.

You can also remove a top bolt under seat to pour in also, and also apply 5 to 10 pounds air pressure there it will help move some of the junk out as well as having front of tractor elevated. I would not use more than 10 pounds air pressure as it may damage seals. I also use very low air pressure in crank case to help remove dirty oil when changing.

I used a electric motor, ran I in different gears flush, repeat, I let it run 20-25 min flush. Filled with cheap oil, flush then gear lube
