1990Onan520-H 15 #1 Posted April 18, 2019 As the title states I'm trying to get my PTO pulley off. I managed to get everything to slide down off the crank, but I'm now trying to get the hydro drive pulley to separate from the clutch/electromagnet and that just doesn't seem to be happening. I've soaked it on both sides for 2 weeks with PB blaster and ATF with no luck. I've found an exploded PTO diagram but none of them seem to incorporate the hydro drive pulley and I'm wondering although I don't think so... if I'm not taking this apart correctly. It seems to me that the pulley should just slide up and off the PTO but that's not happening. Does anyone know how this comes apart for sure and or have any tips? I already had to hack my deck spindle shaft in half and replace it for this same reason and I don't want to do that again with this if at all possible. This is getting expensive and I'm already into this mower for more than it's worth in less than a year of ownership.

I don't at the moment but that's what I figured. I think they're rusted stuck. I have a puller on it trying to pull the pto down and push what i think is the pulley shaft up, but it won't move. Does that slide all the way through everything and the bolt threads into the bottom of it? I see that it's keyed so i assume it should just slide off. wildman 205 #8 Posted April 19, 2019 (edited) Bolt does go through #18 and threads into crankshaft and yes it does slide off Edited April 19, 2019 by wildman

Guess that means I have to heat the hell out of the clutch, destroy the electronics and pray it comes apart. Then buy a new clutch. That sucks. Anyone have any good tips? Socket on the bolt side and hammer down on it to try to shoot the pulley off?

Sounds like that may work but better done by two people. One to suspend the assembly in mid air and the other on the end of the hammer. Don't let the pulley fall when it comes out as it may get damaged. Garry
