squonk 41,022 #2 Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) Don't want a "slip and fall " accident in the potty! I was working at a hospital and we were building a big addition. I'm on call for the weekend and the guy on duty calls me and says "you have to come in and see this." he won't tell me what it was but all he would tell me was I would get a laugh. We had strong winds the night before. I get there and in plain view of everyone who came through the main entrance was a porta potty hanging off the 3rd story roof by a wire swinging in the breeze. door had flown open and the TP inside was all wound around everything and needless to say, the tank contents were all over! The Tuul Crib 7,336 #3 Posted April 15, 2019 Yeah the worst thing you can do is fall headfirst into one of those! Yikes!! And your feet must be clean before you go in right?
953 nut 55,071 #4 Posted April 15, 2019 While we were building the new house I put a pallet in front of the port-a-john because it was muddy (slippery red clay) and didn't want to have anyone slip and fall. My wife saw that and put down an old welcome mat, all the workers wiped their feet on it and the guy who serviced the port-a-john would rinse it off every time he came. Wish I had taken a picture.
oliver2-44 9,681 #5 Posted April 15, 2019 Some years ago a dive contractor working on the dam had a Porta John on a barge that also had a crane on it. To shorten the story, the potty ended up in the lake. The dam divers (pun intended) wouldn't dive to find it. The contractor ended up bringing in a dive specialist that wears full dive suit and helmet and normally does repair dives at waste water treatment plants and systems. The guy was setup for his work, He had a UPS type van outfitted with a fold out external then internal decontamination shower.
