Mike'sHorseBarn 2,998 #1 Posted April 12, 2019 So I like to mess around with small engines like old Briggs washing ma hine engines and such. Today I started on a continental. I've never messed with one of these so it should be interesting. Not really sure how the throttle works at this point. There is a rod coming down behind the flywheel that I'm not really sure what it does, but it adjusts something. You can see it in the one pic coming down to the carb elbow. Stepney 2,325 #6 Posted April 12, 2019 I too had an A model Continental amongst others. Mine had a flyweight governor on the top of the block. If your rod goes to the fan, I'd bet it's a vane governor. Just like your washer engines. I still have parts kicking around here, I think .. if you should need anything. I think this one is going to be the same way. Not much info on them on the internet from what I've found. I'm going to just try and make it work the way it is . Stepney 2,325 #8 Posted April 12, 2019 Funny that yours is a gravity AA7. Mine was a suction type and the throttle looked mostly the same. Long time ago now though. I've got tons of old books in the basement. Maybe something on them in there. Another place to look is Smokstak. Page is entirely dedicated to preserving old engines and they have a small engine section. If you have no luck, that may be your best bet. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
