Stepney 2,325 #1 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) Hello again, all. As I said in another post, I've been pondering getting a newer, slightly more comfortable WH for working in the yard. Was looking at C series blackhoods, 3 and 400 models too. Anyway, I found a GT-1848 which as is known, is basically a 400 series WH. Anyway. My implements consist of a 50" grader, a dozer plow, and some various decks. All work well on my '68 Electro and Charger 9. All are 80's and 90's era units. I got into reading about 3/400 vs C series and found some rumblings about the lift rockshaft having to be changed out, if I understood it right? For a deck, plow, and grader, would it all work the same, or are there more parts needed? Excuse the ignorance, but I'm not too familiar with these 'newer' models. JAinVA 4,619 #2 Posted April 10, 2019 The rockshafts are different from the early C series with the fuel tank under the hood and later under seat equipped units. If the machines you are looking at have a rear rock shaft you don't need to change it out.If you don't have one and want to install one you need to get the right version.
Lee1977 6,643 #3 Posted April 10, 2019 The Deck, plow and grader will all attach the same. It just makes it a little harder to attach to the lift as it's all enclose on three sides and with the two cylinder models you might as well say four sides.
JAinVA 4,619 #4 Posted April 10, 2019 Previous post is spot on about how difficult c101 and later horses are to deal with. When I moved up from a c120 to a c101 I was truly amazed at the lack of access to the center lift compared to older machines.I was also puzzled at the side cover being cut in two.I removed the side cover and saw that a previous owner had taken an industrial can opener to the hood stand. What a rusty mess.A member here provided a replacement hood stand and I modified it to allow hand access. The stock round hole will only allow a five year old access.
