lewis357 2 #1 Posted April 2, 2019 hi i have a 1971 raider 10 kohler engine and i am trying to find the correct length engine to transmission drive belt length , the old one is worn so the nearest replacement i have found is a B80 17 X 2030 LI but it is a little to long a B79 is to tight and there is no adjustment in the motor mount bolt holes , can any one tell me the original size or part no , thank you

Ed Kennell 38,681 #3 Posted April 2, 2019 to the Lewis. I could not find your belt part number either, but it should not be necessary move the engine to adjust the drive belt tension. The clutch pulley should be able to handle this adjustment. Garry should be here soon to help with part numbers.
lewis357 2 #4 Posted April 2, 2019 hi i thought the pulley would cope but its either permanent drive or a slight slip under load , with the original belt and marking the pulley position to the frame neither of the belts i have tried are near , the old belt was an original part about 20 years ago it's almost needing a b 79.5 !! unless its the width that's wrong
Ed Kennell 38,681 #5 Posted April 2, 2019 The correct width is critical to the correct operation. If the belt is too narrow, it will sit too deep in the vee pulleys. One other note is the belt guard must be installed for the clutch to operate properly. The belt must be supported by the belt guard to prevent contact with the engine pulley and allow the belt and transmission pulley to stop turning. Can you post pictures of the clutch pulley and belt arrangement. There is also a possibility thee is a pin sheared in the clutch pulley shaft that is not allowing the clutch to operate properly. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,096 #10 Posted April 2, 2019 The 1971 drive belt dimensions have been added to this page. Click on the picture. The manual you can download covers most of the 1971 tractors and the Raider 10 is identified in the manual as model 10R. More info on your tractor.
