csvt99 173 #1 Posted March 31, 2019 I'm learning about the 314-8 I just picked up and have a question about the mower deck transport height. When I have the deck raised the rear deck roller wheels still sit on the ground, the front ones are about 2.5 inches off the ground. The deck doesn't move much when I drop the handle. Is this normal and if not, what is the best way to adjust it?
dcrage 627 #2 Posted March 31, 2019 Probably OK as is. Back wheels hitting ground while transporting is normal for my 37” SD. Owners manual FOR THE DECK will give instructions for deck setup/‘leveling’.
Lee1977 6,643 #3 Posted March 31, 2019 That rod on the back that attaches to the lift arms on top of the deck is the level adjustment. The deck should only be 1/8" lower in the front. If you mow at max height the rear wheel will be very close to the ground when the deck is at transport height.
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #4 Posted March 31, 2019 (edited) On the hydros there's an adjustment on the center rockshaft trunion (2cd pic silver nut in front of the big hairpin cotter is actually attached the gold chain in the 1st pic) and the chain that actually lifts the arm lifting to the deck... lynnmor 7,302 #5 Posted April 1, 2019 Those rubber bumpers, shown in the second photo, should just kiss the floor boards when you adjust the nut explained in the previous post. Of course level the deck first thing, I like less than 1/8" down in front to get maximum mowing height.
csvt99 173 #6 Posted April 2, 2019 Thank you, I will tinker with it and see if it improves.
