Welcome to Wheel Horse.

In my home Province had never ever seen any of the Simplicity large frame tractors then 65 years later after moving to central Canada seen a basket case at one of my neighbors. A Simplicity 9020 with a seized engine, some attachments, snow thrower, tiller and a mower deck, made an offer of $500.00 and bought me a project.

Previous owner said the engine was a smoker, he had removed the engine setting it outside where it sat for five years full of water and rust, when I had disassembled the engine I soon discovered that the diaphragm in the fuel pump was shot and was leaking raw gasoline into the crankcase diluting the oil causing the engine to smoke. A simple fuel pump replacement with an oil and filter change would have solved the problem.

After rebuilding the Onan I've been using that 45 year old tractor for the past three years to keep our driveway clear and make walking trails on our small two acre plot.

Then a fellow from another site gave me a heads up on an Alice Chalmers 720 with an Arc loader that had a blown hydrostatic this tractor was in Alberta. Again I made an offer of $500.00 the owner accepted and countered with an offer to deliver the tractor for an additional $600.00. Picture below is tractor arriving from Alberta.

Rebuilding the Sundstrand was easy enough, finding a replacement motor end with the fixed swash plate not so easy, but I finally found someone willing to sell me a cut out Sunstrand so betewen the pair now have aa fully rebuilt hydro.

If you ever need the rebuild manual and wear specks for your Sundstrand pm me your email address then I'll give you access to my online folder and you can grab what you want from it. This is the site that use https://hubic.com

Does anyone know where I can obtain a regulator rectifier for this tractor? I still have a few details to finish it out. Thanks for all the positive replies!

I've ordered a couple times from dbelectrical.com and been treated well.

They'll even be able to help ensure it's the correct one.

What is the HP/HP Rating on the Simplicity 4041?  It looks like a right size tractor for all around work.

To further add to this story, I was 6 years old the last time I drove this tractor. My Dad sold it back then. About 3 years ago, he was coming back from the local convenience store and spotted the hood sticking out from around an out building at a house about 3 quarters of a mile away from our house. He came and got me and we went to inquire about the tractor. Upon further examination we found a repair he had made back in 73 and the hairs on our neck stood up! This was our old tractor! He bought it, we restored it together and he surprised me with it on my 49th birthday by giving me the keys to it! I'll own it until I die!

Awesome story.

Love hearing the heritage or back story of these machines.
