Ed Kennell 38,023 #1 Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) What is the purpose of the spring loaded mule drive that is used with the 60" decks? Would a regular mule drive work? Is it required due to the forward swept axle, the heavier deck, the 520 lift geometry, or just to supply more consistent belt tension due to the increased torque from the larger blades? peter lena 8,583 #2 Posted March 23, 2019 all drive related parts should be equal in their power related torque, not only is the spring vital for consistent belt traction , but any related friction / drag point should be regularly lubricated to ensure its transmission of power. i used to regularly service , screw auger drives and conveyors , every related movement point , must be equal to the mass, or things quickly go bad.
