I used to tap our maples with a hand drill.

      :text-yeahthat:    That was the only way  when I was tapping maples in the 1950s.   Battery powered drills didn't exist.    Luckily the wheel had already been invented, so if the snow was melted enough I could use a wagon instead of the bob sled to haul the sugar water to the butcher kettles.

Just some odd tools and other stuff

I guess this would fall under the "other stuff" category.

Another addiction??        I gotta love those made in Philadelphia   PENN reels.         Hey, there are a couple of those Mitchell 300s that John @wallfish made in wood.

@Ed KennellKennell

Those old spinning reels are cool.

I bought a Quantum QMD10 when they first started making them in the mid 80s. I've tried other reels since and always go back to that one.

Still is my go to reel to this day.

For almost 30 years I wanted an Ugly Stik rod and finally got one maybe 6 or 8 years ago.

I've  always run a 6 foot or longer rod and ultralight tackle and line. 4 or 6 lb usually.

Maybe this year I'll get out on Burnt Meadow pond a few times....

 A combination set and calliper  that belonged to my late father who was a toolmaker. Made in Athol, Mass. Age wise I can only guess. Maybe 80yrs old. Also same make, a hand held rev counter. How my father had American tools rather than the English Moore & Wright I can't say.

 Bottom right is a 0-1 Mitutoyo mic. The first precision tool I bought as an apprentice toolmaker when I was 16yrs. Makes that 57yrs. Cost me £3-50 in PSP. That's pounds, shillings and pence. Not decimal and would be a weeks wage.

 This little 0-1 mic was my paternal grandfathers. Got to be at least 100yrs. Make unknown. The years have taken their toll on the box.

L. S. Starrett tools have been made around the world for quite a while but I don't know when that started.

Perhaps they were licensed/ patented here but made closer to you?

@Stormin Lots of really great tools made there. Very fond of them. The venerable Norris , Record,Tyzack, Addis, and Henry Taylor just to mention a few.

That is the favorite and standard measuring device here. You actually have a couple of fourfold rulers on your wall. Are they Stanley's?

Trina and I just took a look at them with a bright flashlight and one of them has no markings on it whatsoever. The one on the left. The one on the right says "boxwood" in one place and "in USA" in another place but that's all we can find
