Pullstart 62,851 #52 Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) @Tractorhead run over flattened bread pan + hatchet = heat shield you called it buddy, the blower shut down on heat overload, so we’ll be extending the pipe eventually. WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #55 Posted March 17, 2019 Kevin, I have heard many times that "smoke" will bring them in, funny how all the top hunting shows talk about eliminating scents, BTW it's maple syrup season here as well...http://www.highlandcounty.org/events/maple-festival/...smack dab in the middle of both by homes. 1

Pullstart 62,851 #65 Posted March 21, 2019 Early morning check in.. Josh started running the sap at 6 pm last night, worked until who knows when. He filled the evaporator to keep things wet and filled the fire box. Our blower contraption fell off, but I’ve got duct tape for that!

Excellent brand Choice there my friend.

formariz 11,987 #74 Posted March 26, 2019 This is another great example of how great of a site this is. Besides tractors so many here have a diverse set of interests and skills that many of us have never been exposed to such as in my case with this activity. I have been watching this with great interest . Although I had an idea of it I had never really seen how its done. It will definitely give me a whole new appreciation for it as I eat my pancakes. I see also that you make it a total family activity which is just great. So many things we use and consume and most have no idea on what had to happen for that to occur. Also that with knowledge of the process any one can actually do those things and not only get great enjoyment out of it but also continue a tradition that will otherwise disappear one day. Thank you for posting it.
