I don't know what it is ! Is there a secret tool or what ? I gave up , grabbing another tractor see pics when I got this tractor I honestly thought this was a wheel horse , is a baser with the 72" blade ( homemade )
Sparky-(Admin) 21,309 #2 Posted March 6, 2019 Did you loosen the chain tensioner? I’ve never swapped the chain or replaced the master link but it’s gotta be easier if the chain is slack.
mr biggs 187 #3 Posted March 6, 2019 Don't think there's a chan tensioner but I will look again
wildman 205 #4 Posted March 6, 2019 One of your sprocket idlers is your tensioner
peter lena 8,583 #5 Posted March 6, 2019 you can pick up a HALF LINK FOR THAT CHAIN AT T/S. DO YOU REGULARLY LUBRICATE THE CHAIN CHAIN DRIVE ? agree with wildman on that sprocket idler , that entire drive should move easily by hand , your tight chain is eating those gears. look at every part of it , adjust and lubricate, it should spin with little effort, pete
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #6 Posted March 6, 2019 This tool makes installing a chain real easy https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/-40-to-50-roller-chain-puller/A-p8105827e One of the pictures shows how it is used. The horseshoe shaped retaining clip that secures the master link should have the rounded end facing the direction of chain travel. A chunk of ice can push the clip off if it is on the other way around. Garry
cleat 5,810 #7 Posted March 7, 2019 The trick to roller chain if at all possible get the 2 ends on the side of one of the sprockets and the teeth on the sprocket hold the chain for you while you install the master link. 2
