Good morning guys so I tried to replace a chain on my wheel horse snowblower because the link pop loose,  if that's not the most difficult thing in the world  just to get that one back in .... I don't know what it is !  Is there a secret tool or what ? I gave up , grabbing another tractor see pics when I got this tractor I honestly thought this was a wheel horse , is a baser with the 72" blade ( homemade )

Did you loosen the chain tensioner? I’ve never swapped the chain or replaced the master link but it’s gotta be easier if the chain is slack.

One of your sprocket idlers is your tensioner

you can pick up a  HALF LINK FOR THAT CHAIN AT T/S. DO YOU REGULARLY  LUBRICATE  THE CHAIN CHAIN DRIVE ?  agree with wildman on that  sprocket idler , that entire drive should move easily  by hand , your tight chain is eating those gears. look at every part of it , adjust and lubricate, it should spin with little effort, pete

This tool makes installing a chain real easy

One of the pictures shows how it is used.

The horseshoe shaped retaining clip that secures the master link should have the rounded end facing the direction of chain travel. A chunk of ice can push the clip off if it is on the other way around.

The trick to roller chain if at all possible get the 2 ends on the side of one of the sprockets and the teeth on the sprocket hold the chain for you while you install the master link.
