Wishing for a Front & Rear Attachment- Rear Axle Bracket

Recommended Posts

For some time I've pondered how to design a Rear Axle Bracket that would allow a front and rear implement to be mounted. Such as a front dozer blade or mid grader blade, then a tiller on the rear. This would be a great dirt work combination. They of course would require seperate lifts which would could be accomplished with Hydro tractors.     So I just saw where @gwest_ca posted some dozer blade model information for someone looking for a blade.

Dozer DNA of long tractor frame dozer blades

1966-1967 model BD-426 - Fits LONG frame tractors - Mounts ahead of the rear axle - replaced by

1968 model 6-1111 - Fits LONG frame tractors - Mounts ahead of the rear axle

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1968 model 6-4111 - First to fit LONG & SHORT frame tractors and first to mount under the rear axle

I noticed the 1966 to 1968 models axle bracket says " mounts ahead of the rear axle.  I'd appreciate if someone has or could get a picture of this rear bracket that mounts "ahead of the axle.  I'm wondering if this "ahead of the axle design and a "under the axle design" could be married together to allow mounting two implements.

As always I'd appreciate any other ideas on how a front and rear implement could be mounted at the same time! If someone has already done this, pictures would be great.

PS. The electric heater in my shop can't overcome this 26 f. temp this morning, So of course what else is there to do inside, but dream on some tractor ideas.  Yes 26F is cold for us Texans!!

If you had two of the older front axle brackets, the one could probably be turned end for end and used on the rear of the axle.   Not sure how this would affect the tiller as it would be a few inches farther back.    Maybe just a longer belt and lift link.

Jim:  Here are two versions of the rear axle bracket used for snowplows, mid-grader blades  and tiller attachments.

The first two photos are the type I think you are asking about.

We used that type on a 953/1054  tractor for the 54 inch snowplow.

My dad made three drawbar hitches that attached to the front angle iron from the rear side  to pull much like on a Farmall drawbar hitch.    Several holes for a ball, clevis, chain or pin to pull a wagon were on it.   The  hydraulic lift rear slot hitch would also clear the hitch for continued use.   You can  see  drawbar with the cultivator on the rear in the slot hitch on this 1054 picture.

You could easily  make to other angle iron brackets for the outside/backside of the hitch to hook up a tiller etc.
