seven 202 #1 Posted March 4, 2019 I have a C160 with a snowblower on the front short chute. And the pulley that's closet to the blower slips when snow gets into it . Question is isn't there supposed to be a shield to go over it? Or is the spring to weak ? I've tried new belt helped some but still slips
Ed Kennell 38,024 #2 Posted March 4, 2019 Snow in the pulley should not cause it to slip. Make sure the belt is the correct width and not bottoming out in the bottom of the Vee pulley. A stronger spring will not help if the belt width and shape is not matched to the pulley width and shape. I will assume the auger is free and not binding and the belt is routed properly around the two idler pulleys. Pictures of the arrangement may help us see the problem.
pfrederi 17,672 #3 Posted March 4, 2019 if you are talking about teh black pulley in my pictures there is supposed to be a key an set screw Did your shear off or slip out>???
lynnmor 7,302 #4 Posted March 4, 2019 If the PTO clutch slips, then the snowblower belts will slip. The PTO needs to be adjusted to a firm engagement.
seven 202 #5 Posted March 5, 2019 All my pulleys are original except for the one closest to the blower so maybe that's the incorrect size pulley I'm not sure but I could see when I'm blowing that that is the one that is slipping

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #9 Posted March 5, 2019 Original belt was 5/8" x 69", Make sure you get a belt designed to bend backwards over a flat idler. The green Gates belt available from Napa is one. Garry
