JCM 9,902 #1 Posted February 25, 2019 I wanted to share this topic to some of the RS members who may remember these races,I was much to young.Pictured with me on my left is Don B who was one of the last Racers to run the Road race on the beach in 1960.In 1961 the race was moved to a paved closed circuit track where Don finished jn 2nd place and in 1962 he finished in 1st place on a Triumph.Don is a self employed auto mechanic by trade and is well known in the New England area in Enduros& Turkey Runs. This picture was taken in 2013 as we prepare to go on a fall dual sport ride in late September.I believe Don was 80 in this photo and I can tell you he is extremely difficult to keep up with in the woods even though I have been riding dirt bikes since age 13.I have learned a lot from his riding style and it has been a great privilege to know him,he still goes to work 5 days a week & trips to Daytona every year,I guess it keeps him young. At 86 he still rides but we stay out of the single track trails and focus more on nice quiet back country roads and dirt roads.Don has a nice posterboard black& white picture of him after winning Daytona and shows parts of the race track and trophy he received with the other top finishers and is proudly displayed in a bay of his shop.Ever since I was young I seem to gravitate towards learning & hanging out with people with similar interests and this is why I enjoy RS so much.I know we have some very young members here and to them I say, always respect your elders, you never know what they have had to endure and what they may have accomplished in life . Thanks all for listening. 11

Daddy Don 907 #3 Posted February 26, 2019 These were the great days of our lives. I used to run the dirt tracks. Never placed in any of them but it felt great to do it. 1
