ebinmaine 67,567 #1 Posted February 24, 2019 I took a flat bar from the pile o stuff and put a twist and a couple bends in appropriate places using the bench vice and a huge C clamp. No heat needed. 11 gauge x 1-1/2" stock. I was even lucky enough to have 2 of the 3 holes where they needed to be. All exhaust and the bracket will be removed and painted. SHould I be concerned? Terry, I don't have a brace on the exhaust for my Patriot horse either and that is also an eight. squonk 41,142 #10 Posted February 24, 2019 As far a bracing goes, I would rather brace the pipe to the engine than the tractor frame. You have a vibrating engine working against the rigid frame. Vinylguy 4,674 #12 Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) IT is just a pipe. We made a few baffles and welded them inside to quiet it down some. I love the way it looks and sounds but because this is going to work at least a couple times a week at the lake I think I will remove it and replace with an original shower head for the summer. No mushy rubber isolation. My other thought is to use a smaller diameter piece of the same black iron pipe to make a brace that would angle down to an engine hole. It's okay. One side has the bolts going up through into the engine as previously mentioned and the other side has them pinching the flange as it does on a small block. 4 bolts through the frame are used. I can't remember what those vise grips are for but they are actually not complete as they sit on the bench like that. Just something I've found over the years or inherited. Maybe one of the guys reading this thread remembers what they are. I posted it a year or two ago but I'm not very good at searching back through while on this phone device. Squonk suggested it may be prone to vibration so I just made a suggestion as well.
