Fits well with a little less than 1/2 inch of space on one side. Length is perfect on it. Doesn't move around much even though the retaining plate nuts vibrated off and dropped the plate somewhere. pfrederi 18,004 #28 Posted December 1, 2019 My 22NF batteries have been in the M-37 for several years it uses 2. I do not remember what the warranty was. One is a powervolt one is a Interstate. I have never had much luck with battery warranties they are usually prorated with some % off the list price which no one ever paid ever. One did work out. Battery died on a trip had AAA they came out and put in a new one. 2 years 9 months later it dies. It was a 3 year replacement warranty. They sent out a truck (I live in the boondocks he came 35 miles). Replaced the battery no charge.... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebinmaine 68,888 #29 Posted December 1, 2019 Does anyone know when the larger battery holders were used? My 74 B80 has a small battery holder. It will only hold a U1. The Cinnamon horse (77 C160 chassis) has the large one. I've no idea if that was original of course and it appears the PO of that tractor had done some updates. Older WHs had bigger battery trays that would accommodate 22NF car batteries (and some other groups) Later WHs used smaller tray that only fit L&G tractor batteries. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
peter lena 8,878 #34 Posted July 14, 2021 @seven , couple of pictures , 1st one and last one , note, first note the " battery ground rail " next to the battery , last picture note the battery tender wire attached to choke cable , for easy battery plug in , also note the battery cable attached from engine block corner / frame area , that connects to the upper battery ground rail next to battery , those 2 improvements , have eliminated my ignition problems . easy to do , also use rough service light bulb in a reflector under engine in winter , keeps it just warm enough to easily start , pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I just bought a 26R for my 414-8 (repowered with a K341/16HP) it fit perfect (8.5inches across). Now I have a 540 CCA battery. Its actually perches over the battery tray area forward about 2 inches over the starter solenoid.. well that seems to be a good thing and the extra CCAs are great to have. Now I move on to find a good battery hold down system. Hopefully I can find a good solution. By the way, I never crank my starter for more than two seconds, if that engine does not start in two seconds, there is something else prohibiting it. First 1) make sure you have fuel all the way up to the carb bowl (I have replaced all my fuel lines with clear lines so that I can easily see that I have fuel getting in the bowl.) 2) make sure you have spark. peter lena 8,878 #36 Posted July 19, 2021 @paul414-8 you might try a fuel " squeeze bulb " on your fuel line to carb , or an electric pump , both of them help cure that fuel in carb issue , while you are at it , you can also add a fuel line check valve that will hold fuel in the carb , made up an extension spring inside a rubber hose , with heavy wire hook , on each spring end to hold my batteries in place , easy to make up and apply, if you choose. also check your choke operation , is it smooth and easy to use? , are you getting a full plate closure at the carb? , if you have fuel in carb , vacuum suck at choke , and spark , it should quickly start. you might also put a battery tender on your set up. never burned up a starter , others might suggestions , zero in on that fuel bulb to carb, first , simple and easy to install , then verify your choke closure , it should help out a lot , send you a picture of added engine to battery grounding , that helps , pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
