bottjernat1 2,190 #1 Posted February 20, 2019 When did they start putting hub caps on Wheel Horses just curious? I had thought about putting a set on my restored rj58 just for looks.

GlenPettit 1,717 #3 Posted February 20, 2019 I believe about '66 is when the first HUB CAPS (which are usually made of rubber and covered only the small 1.5" Hub) were first red on a few models in '66. The larger metal WHEEL COVERS (which cover the entire metal wheel, rubber-to-rubber). The first two years only Red Hub Caps were available, starting in '68 as a dealer option they were offered in: Red, Black or an Ivory-White. Their main purpose was to cover the dripping grease on the Hub in the center of the wheel. But most all other brands of L>'s have upper spindle caps now, most the dirt & water comer from the top down.
