rear hubs attached. Going to leave the wheels as separate parts and they just press on.

Didn't even realize it's been that long. Please tell them I apologize for the delay! Took a break to go to a small little engine show last Sunday and work has gotten busy but I should have some time this Sunday.

I've been pecking away at some small stuff and had some trouble with the steering parts last time I worked on it.

Had a rainy day so got some time. Not much of an update but I did finally get the front tires made which is the longest time to make parts left to do.

Start on front rims

Lift handle

Foot pedal

Tried quite a few times to have the rod move in the lift handle but just couldn't get it to look right or work at that small of a scale. One dropped on the floor while working on it and as I rolled the chair back to look for it, you guessed it, heard the crunch and had to start over.

And we’ve got a build off!  This is Rylee’s rendition of a model tractor.  How’s that mouse training coming along, John?

That's awesome when the kids create something, anything. So now Rylee's build off challenge has got things moving again.

Next was the front spindles. There was some difficulty getting the holes right for the steering arms but this is how it went.

Drill some holes spaced properly and centered for the steering arms. Finally got 2 that looked OK. (this was not the first toothpick!)

IMG_0423.JPG.7480d6362a6a812967393d0d6ac77663.JPG

Then to keep them symmetrical so the steering isn't off, the toothpick was split where the holes are to make two.

IMG_0424.JPG.7421448b5b85405432ad0867341bcc37.JPG

Here's the steering arms

IMG_0425.JPG.0c6ab3e90e4e150e95d9f0f097e9958c.JPG

Then spin a toothpick down to a small round, break it for the 90 deg bends of the spindles and glue the steering arm in that bend to hold the break.

Front axle with tires on. (Had lots of problems with the axle tubes and such so sorry there aren't pics of that process.)

Everything will get squared away with the steering like the rod and link before cutting and gluing pieces to hold everything in place. The plan is to make it steer by the steering wheel.

Now you're starting to scare me John.    Are you the same person that hammered that pile of junk into a two wheeler a couple years back?

No I'm not the same person, I've turned to a more delicate form of art. Once this is all over, as Arnold said "I'll be back" hammering away

Just for show. Working on the link and that pine motor now.

And trying to figure out how to stop the spindles from falling out and keep the tires on the spindles. The pieces are getting too small for me to see. One little tiny touch of glue in there and their locked. There's no time for starting over on stuff.

Dam, you just added another small detail that needs to get done. Forgot those

Actually, the tires are hollow so technically, yes

Houston, we have a problem!

Well my fear is confirmed, it seems the rear tires are just too small again. After mounting up the fronts there is just way too much rear tilt of the frame towards the back. The tires seemed small throughout but thought I could adjust and get away with it still looking right but...

IMG_0431.JPG.a11ef71a030e9620ce35a8670c6b5754.JPG

Stayed up late last night and got started as time is getting very short to have this done for the show.

Sanded outer tires flat and added a layer. We'll see how it goes and hopefully won't need 2 layers. It does look more proportional.

I have used quite a few adjectives describing you and what you do in the past, but now I am convinced that you are the definition

of determination. From now on when I hear that word I will automatically think of you.
