60" Deck Wheels

Recommended Posts

I looked up wheels for the 60" model #78390 deck and Toro now says discontinued, some websites show them for about $150 each.  Be aware that the parts list is in error about bolts and spacers.  One alternative mentioned here was the model #42427 wheel from Harbor Freight for $6.99 each so I bought a pair even though I know better.  The bearings were pretty much junk so I knocked them out for replacement.  Well the metal rims on these things are thin as paper and my opinion is that they will not hold the bearings in place for very long.  The rubber tires seem to be OK and maybe I'll make wheels to fit the tires, but for now I installed them to see how long it takes for failure.  The plastic wheels from Martin, part #ZP182RT-2C2 might be OK.  If anyone has a better idea for a 8" wheel, let me know.

have found martin wheels to be a high quality wheel , and work well on my 42" decks,  just did a look up on the model you need , wheel is rated for 450 lb , with a 5/8" ball bearing, all I can tell you is that their wheels work well for me, you might do a customer response check. h/f wheels are junk , the related hardware / framework is worse. looked up # ZP-182RT-2C2 , GOOD LUCK, PETE

I have a pair of 8" wheels with 1/2" ID STEEL bearing....2" tread width.  The rims are hard plastic molded.  Not sure the mfg name but are marked "HOPE  4565-8" .
