Plow bracket question

Recommended Posts

Hello, all. Was just about to order a plow bracket off 'Wheel Horse parts and more' and saw there were two brackets listed. One for early short frames 702, etc. (But it includes the 1257 in the list), and one for the B-C-300 etc series. I have a '66 1076 and a '68 Electro 12. Only plow I ever had was on a 702. I take it I would need the later C series style bracket, correct?

It wouldn't be a terrible idea to give Lowell a call to confirm but I believe you do want the later Style.

I have not looked at his website to see the shape of those two brackets but I do remember reading that the early Style mounted more forward than the later Style.

A 1076 and an Electro should both be long frames which as you know would be the same as C series.

I agree with that. The older listing does say for short frames only, but seeing a long frame 1257 included in the list confused me. I do remember the old style brackets on my 702. Never actually had another plow after that one.

I would assume a 1257 would be a long frame? Might want to run that one by Lowell by email or phone call to find out why it's listed and if he needs to correct that.

I don't believe the wheel base dictates which bracket you need. I had an older style bracket (horizontal bolts) on my 76 to use the older style tiller. The newer snow blade required the newer bracket (vertical bolts) and didn't work with my snow blade. Didn't matter to me though. The 76 was my blower machine and the blade was used on a GT-1100. :)

My 1076 has the newer style bracket (vertical bolts), and everything lines up fine.
