WHNJ701 4,165 #1 Posted February 5, 2019 I have been buying selling on ebay for 15 years and basically the last year of selling has been nothing but a waste of my time and effort and headache. mostly do to the new ebay changes by adding the offer options, fee's , postal shipping increases have pushed folks off the site or there is a lack of interest. I mainly sold custom model airplane stuff and tractor parts. so now I am the point i want to shut it all down. kinda stinks I put alot of odd, rare unusual stuff out there that is hard to find. I have had mixed results on Craigslist and prefer not use it. I don't do Facebook either. any other sites or thoughts.
oliver2-44 9,681 #2 Posted February 5, 2019 I haven't done Facebook either, but my daughter-in-law keeps telling me Facebook Marketplace is the one to use to buy things and avoid the Craigslist spammers. A tractor friend here bought a WH Suburban off LETGO, but I don't know anything about the site
953 nut 55,071 #3 Posted February 5, 2019 One thing I will say for ebay is that I have never been bothered by scammers on there. Auto Trader, Face Book and Craigs List expose you to so many @$$ holes, but ebay insulates you from them. Fees have gone up but if you go to your local auction house you will find their fees are through the roof. Postage has gone up, but with the 25% postal discount at ebay it isn't too bad. If someone has another method of reaching the masses that works I too would like to know about it.
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #4 Posted February 5, 2019 CL to me is also a waste of time or at least it is where I'm at anyway. More flakes than in cereal bowl. Haven't tried face book either. There is another site that is called etsy you might look into.
WHNJ701 4,165 #5 Posted February 5, 2019 my biggest headache with ebay is the offer setting, no matter how I adjust the settings it keeps changing so buyers can submit offers, it is so annoying going back and forth with arguing over a dollar
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #6 Posted February 5, 2019 I can't figure out on some where the shipping is jacked higher than the cost of the piece!

Mike'sHorseBarn 2,984 #8 Posted February 5, 2019 I know the fees on ebay and paypal really cut down on your profit. I hate the fact that ebay tries to force you to use the make offer option. Anyway...I know you said you don't like facebook, but I have really had a lot of success with Facebook Marketplace. No fees and I haven't had issues with scammers. If you get a message from someone you think is sketchy, you can view their profile and find out pretty quick if they are legit or not. I've looked around on LETGO but it doesn't seem to have the traffic that craigslist and marketplace have and I refuse to sell on craigslist, way too many weirdo's out there.

I was checking ebay for something recently and found the price for free shipping and the item was equal to the sales that charged shipping and item was cheaper. All in all it was going to cost me the same!
Ed Kennell 38,022 #10 Posted February 5, 2019 I have to agree with Mike. I recently started using FB Market place with great success. 1
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #11 Posted February 6, 2019 I'm having an issue with a purchase I made last thurs which just now got sent out. This was the slowest transaction I have ever done on fleabay! Any other time is was the next day at least. If your going to do business be aware that there are people waiting on parts they need. Especially if it is something you really have looked for , for a long time!!
