Marv 919 #1 Posted February 2, 2019 I have a Singer model 6212C machine. The thread tensioner assembly had been removed at some time. I put it back together and wound up with an extra piece. It does not seem to fit any way I try it. Maybe it doesn't belong. Anyone have one we could compare it too. Marv
Sarge 3,463 #2 Posted February 2, 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boZUBTFpSL8 Manual - http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1286_6202-6212.pdf Service manual - these are copies, so be aware of that but I have had to resort to using them - https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/service-manual-singer-6212-sewing-machine-service-manual.aspx 6202 & 6212 is the same basic machine. I cannot find any parts drawings for that tensioner - you'll have to use the basic model numbers and hunt YouTube and other sources. Seems like the biggest issue with that model series is threading them - pretty easy to get it wrong. Folks get knots in the tensioner and pull the knob off to fix it, which leads to a no-tension condition from bending the shaft. The end of that support shaft is split - you'd have to spread it apart slightly to hold the recess notches inside the knob to make it work again. If I had my hands on it, could probably have it back together in a few minutes - I've worked on a lot of different models. Hope this helps, Sarge
Marv 919 #3 Posted February 5, 2019 Thanks for your reply. I had run through that. I can assemble it ok. It is just that there appears to be an extra piece that does not belong in the tensioner. I can' recall if when we got the machine the tensioner came with it disassembled or if it was disassembled after we got it. In any event it is a puzzle. Sarge 3,463 #4 Posted February 6, 2019 What does this extra part look like, anyway? There's a chance it's an internal piece that goes inside the rear, so it would disappear as the tensioner stack is assembled. Sarge
