Tractorhead 9,064 #101 Posted June 20, 2019 Hi Randy, Pickups here relativeley expensive. I still search myself for a Pickup, but theyre here in high priceranges if they‘re really usable. especially the Fuelcost is with 1,30€ for an Litre of Diesel and 1,54€ for an Litre of Gas not really Cheap. At this point you calculate double, if the efficiency is given. If you find Pickups, they‘re mostly Ford Ranger, VW Amarok ( have actually a delivery stop) or isuzu Dmax. I have an eye on a Chevy of later 80’s with the 6 cylinder Engine, but it‘s actual owner still needs it.🤔 but if i see the yearly costs in tax and insurance, im hesitate to buy. The Price to purchase was not the Main cost, Tax and Insurance and Fuel increases that to an expensive thing here.🙄 The percentage here in Country is different between pickups and normal Car‘s. Vans and SUV are mostly sold in Cities, where this type of cars make the most sence...😂 I for myself drive in the last 10years just cars with small engines and waste the saved Money in things i don‘t need but i have fun with, like my Horse, my Beast, and in my crazy ideas, i love to realize. But a Trailerhook is in my case at each Car urgently required. 😎

Stormin 9,981 #103 Posted June 20, 2019 Things are the same in the UK, Randy. I could never afford to run one of the trucks you lads over there. I run a 13yr old Land Rover Discovery Td5. £225 a year road tax. Insurance pushing £300. Diesel on average is £1-30p a litre. We also have 10yr old Mazda 2. Road tax £125. Insurance about £150. Petrol average £1-28per litre. Motorists are really penalised over here. Environmentalists rule.
Tractorhead 9,064 #104 Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) Ha, haaaaa, yessssss. another bit closer finished with the Short Frontlift. i concepted it from Metal of the Scrap yard. 2Heavy Fueltank consoles from a Mercedes Truck, that carry‘s a 600litres Fueltank. And 2 another Consoles, the kept heavy Stuff. both made from 5mm Steel, what shall be enough for a 500kilo counterweight Lifter. All Parts are Screwed, to be able to exchange them. i mounted them to use them also as a simple Frontlift for Graderblade, snowplow or similar purposes. The Hydraulics i have in spare from my first FEL concept, but it was to short with 10cm liftheight, to drop the shovel completley. It is able to lift 2Tons, what shall be more than enough for my Purposes. It was a doubleaction cylinder, so that i also be able to Lift the Beast to change tyres. The Lift capacity i need will be 480 Kilos, what is the max. load on Front Axle calculated weight and measured Weight includes FEL, Frontlift and Tractorweight itself. The hydraulics shall be a combination of frontlift and FEL Steering in once. The lower Mountingpoint on the hooks was actually a M10 thread but it will be enhanced to 16mm. The real FEL will be made to use in combination. For that issue i must finish the Frontlift ahead, to see where i have planingmistakes while use now allready things they will be missused what causes their size and measurements differs to my preplaned System. On the other Hand it must be a universal usable for things i still have in schedule, but they didn‘t still exists now. after the Plain mechanics is finished, i put a little Blue color on it, to get it more familar with the Tractor. RandyLittrell 3,877 #107 Posted June 21, 2019 Thanks for the education guys! Over here as a vehicle gets older, the insurance goes down and so do the taxes. So its cheaper to own an older car or truck, looks like they like you guys to keep buying new. Randy
Tractorhead 9,064 #108 Posted June 21, 2019 It depends on, if the Car is older than 30y and the state is better than a 2, you can get a historic Plate what means flatrate tax fixed by 191€/year. The Insurance is extremely spreaded on historical from cheap to real horrible. As an example: The „whity“ i drive was an older Opel Astra with 1,2 Litres. It was 22 years old, but it runns, i buy it as „Trash“ for just 500 bucks. It needs a little donation and a aftermarket Trailerhook and so it works for me now for 3Years. Tax is about 177,77€/ year and insurance is 476,80/year fuel consumtion is in mix 5,8 l/100 with full trailer max 10,7l/100 repair‘s: 1x change all gear once 1x Brakes and discs complete for TÜV In my case i‘m fine with, but the Trailerhook canot be missed at my side.
Tractorhead 9,064 #109 Posted June 21, 2019 After a nice morning cloudfree it changes quickly. but it was still warm, so what to do with a rainy day? To don’t waste that Day i started by Cleanup my small shed, because i messed it too much.😎 So i reworked a shelf to fit in and reuse the rest to get more Storage space. Now i can go in and don‘t must dance arround the mess. Also my new Welder get‘s a fixed Place in that new build Shelf. Then i started my Beast to ridging, one side was fine but the other side i sunk dangerous in, so i stopped immediately and decide to drove over my Potatoes while the Beast begin to tilt. I‘m able to prevent a complete tilt but now i know it‘s limit sideway‘s. I safed the Beast out of this situation and loosing few lumber’s but not critical - i hope. I found out that the Beast have not enough clearance with the actual mounted consoles to plow. than it starts cats and dogs and i interrupt. -Time for a Coffee- Our rainbarrel can carry 200 liters and it was full after 30 min. Searching for Noah...😳 If this Rain keeps, i need urgently floating tyres for my Potatoes.😂
Tractorhead 9,064 #110 Posted June 22, 2019 It seems Waterpotatoes grown best.... Daily inspection show‘s follow Pics so far i‘m glad, the Touch with the Beasts Console of the Plants doesn‘t kill them. I love to see them grow.. and i love to support them with my Machines... ok, i had a few things to learn, but so far im just Happy. Beautiful and honestly a big Success for me so far (first Time i did this myself) 1
Tractorhead 9,064 #111 Posted June 22, 2019 Do some testweldings with my new Welder to find good setups. First i try the Basic settings without any change.. Then i shifted the Voltage up to 19,5 Volts, what seems to me better. The Welder is able to Weld with max. 210Amps, but then it consumpts 20A of Power. While our Gardenpower is just provided an 16A Fuse with FI i used a setup that i Keeps the Fuse, what will be app. 150Amps. I now just worked without Gas, just Flux Welding. It was a bit different to Weld against mig, and it splashes much more. but while i just work outside, that was my first choice. No Gas and no Bottle to carry with you make it easier to handle with. actual Worklevel 5mm carbonsteel setup: is automatic given by the Welder with 0,8mm Flux setup I just increasing the Voltage (actual is 19,5V ) the rest the system does by Synergetic Setup self. my impression was, that they had a good setup, just the weldingspeed is different to mig. you have to be a bit slower to get a nice Seam. 0,8mm Rutil core Fluxwire my first impressions: yes it works but i must learn and training a bit more to get nicer seams. (Slow down the movement) The Welder itself works pretty nice and produces a constantly smooth fizz. But so far i‘m succeeded with the Result because i‘m not a Professional but Stability is definitely given.
Tractorhead 9,064 #112 Posted June 26, 2019 (edited) Doing today another „Testwelding“ with same Setup. Got my Snowplow and welded two Steelangles on for a Spring mount. Additional i drop down the height, that the shovel will be pushed more lower. The Plow was made of 3mm Steel and the Angles made of 5 mm Steel. because i like to see if they welded thru yes, they are even if seem doesn‘t look pretty cool nice, ok better than the first but not as good as they can be. About last i have no doubt. The idea behind was follow: A new Plow angle to push but much deeper as before, so that i can set with the spring the resistance of the Plow. This was the Endstop for the Spring to bias it. The Wheels will be maybe next issue i would change. They become also a height setup and will be changes at 90deg. Tractorhead 9,064 #113 Posted June 28, 2019 Accomplished the next Milestone in the Heavy FEL. calculated Liftrate will be 560 Kilo in the Shovel. I finished today nearly complete the whole Basement console. i changed something in my plans i did before, to get more clearance i need at least 25cm to Ground. Another Reason therefore is, that the Curb is 24cm high, so i don‘t need any wood or Ramps to crossing. The 4WD acts perfect in climbing, even with heavy Load on. What a perfect Fit, i love it, if things go like this. I changed the Prototypes after Measuring with the Plasma to Fit Than i redrilled them for right sized Screws, to bolt it on. 😇 Than i had a Deal with one of our Welder Professionals, he needs my help.😎 One Hand cleans the other, i make his thing and he Welded my Console, i‘m glad about that, because it must carry a Lot of Weight, and he is a Professional and Weld every Day such Things. he meant i can do it myself, because he let me try with our big Officewelder and verify my Testweldings he sees. That doesnt look that bad, it will Last, but Deal is Deal.. 😎 ok- if i knew before what he needs, i would rethinkin his offer maybe.. 🤔😂 It was a Win Win situation for both i guess.👍 Firstly i think about additional Reinforcement, but i doubt i need it, because i reinforced the Consoles from 8mm to 10mm Steel That shall be Strong enough, even if i compare with my Aluminum construction. If more stability is needed, i can reinforce it later . My Welder meants also - no need for Than a longer Coffeebreak, to cool Down and i do in this Time my Part, than i get prepared for mounting. Firstly cleaned it with silicon remover, later with Rustconverter and Finish with Black Color. I like the Optics of that Seam Now i just need The upper Consoles, but they will be Screwed. Even the Gearbox stiffening isn‘t still on, but also this will be mounted by Screws. the shall releasing the Clutch from any Load. I didnt‘t cleaned the edges finally, because they will be reworked later with the Lift consoles i build Next, but the Basement is allready mounted. Just a Try, how it will be looking. The upper consoles will be bent a bit Backwards, to enlarge the Liftarmlenght and moving the Loadcenter more Backwards. Additional they will also get a second pipe for a Housing to mount a Fixed roof. ..... to be continoued..
Tractorhead 9,064 #114 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Hot Day Hot work, and lateron a unplaned Tour...... Get up this morning, rooms are empty because Kathi was drove to her Mom. Cool, than i have some Time to do Things as surprise for her. In the morning it wasn‘t that Hot, so i decided to Cut the Hedge today. Starting on 9:00 Am at 28 deg C Put everything in the Horse to bring it to the Hedge end. Hope i did this last time in this Sytle.. because i have 2 Helpers, the Beauty and the Beast they work perfectly together i still begin. Temperature increases to 36deg.. at 11:00 and i‘m completely Wet. ... boy, not Fun to work hard outside at this Temperatures. Collect the Leaf with the Horse and dump later with the Beast, because the Beast have more clearance over the Fields. Neighbour allowes me today, to dump the Cut into Forrest, where he has a place for. aaah, i know that path... love it... Cool..😎 One of 4 Bags, full of Leaf. This was just a correct cu, but i wanna cut down the Hedge on the Roadside for 30 more, where the Normal Hedgesaw doesn‘t work as i hoped. A Wheel Horse with FEL is allway‘s your Backs friend... don‘t lift heavy things use your FEL. the Leafcollector wasn‘t work today that good, so i have to scrap out from Curbs. i drove to the dump place, when i remember, i forgot to buy something to drink. While i‘m on the Beast, i enlarge the Seat time and drove thru the Forrest and bobber along the field path until Rewe. Then i drove on the Parking area and go shopping.. Our Rewe is about 12 Km Far...and don‘t ask how Peoples look at me... 😂 I go in, take my things and went out to the Beast.. Fixing the Pepsi in the Frontlifterbox and the rest arround the Beast and started it to drove home.... An old Lady smiles, and give me Thump up.👍 The whole Trip was 2 hours, did you know things can be more Fun? I don‘t care about Peoples they laugh, i also found it a fantastic way to go Shopping. but i hope i can sole my idea for a Hedgecutter quickly, maybe before autum. Tractorhead 9,064 #115 Posted July 3, 2019 (edited) Parts delivery is here, finally it arrives. ‚til i get this goods, some other things from far far away arrives me much quicker, but anyway. i ordered this things at a local store about 12Km far. Normally he has some stuff arround, but not my needed sizes. 1/2“ and 3/8“ he has nearly nothing, but i wanna be on inch size, because i wanna be exchangable with my Horse, in case of any Fail i.eg a Tube blasts or something like that. Another big Advantages is, i can order few parts for spare. Then i go in Barn and begin things to prepare for mounting. could’nt mount all, some things still on the Way.... gngngn..😎 I have a cribble in my fingers, things gona still to slow. Hope i can prepare on Friday the upper consoles, if needed Material was delivered. Need different Sizes of square pipes, while i‘m changing some things. Then i see something funny, We have to go into Forrest, they grown at our site in Frontyard...😂 i still leave ‚em because Kati is the pro in Mushrooms. i don‘t no if they poison or not, but i trust my Wife and she know‘s. Also, @roadapples showed me some adjustable (wheels or skiis, I forget?) for his 520 with a 2 stage snow blower. They are bolted onto the back of his blower using stock bolt locations, with a vertical tube inside another tube with 1” hole spacing for height adjustment. If you are still planning to change the wheels you have shown, maybe he could throw some pictures up of his setup for consideration... 1
Tractorhead 9,064 #118 Posted July 5, 2019 And the missed Pic. To get an idea, what i changed, i set the Upper Consoles in a Agle of 12 deg backwards. That give me more space, that i can reach 2,35 m on Tip of the new FEL. but i still waiting for some Steel, that i can build the Mountingplates and the Cylindermounts. they should be located at the Welding st give them all more Stiffness. the Bores are made in 20mm, so that i can reinforce the Fork. than i do a short inspection on Kati‘s try of Papaya‘s. 2 grows pretty nice. 1

Tractorhead 9,064 #120 Posted July 5, 2019 (edited) A new Toy arrives, ok nothing for the FEL but however.... Asian delivery within 4 Day‘s - Cool. think anybody knows that thing with normally 2 Strings, i don‘t know it‘s name in English. „Normal“ Peoples use it just to cut grass near Curbs. But that‘s not me.....😇😁 i „tuned“ mine a little bit, to see if this works better than the Strings... this are rotating Blades as known on Disc Mower. yap, you see right, i shortly „pimp my grasscutter“ and fit it with that Rotary Blades. Boy, what a dangerous impressive Soundambiente, it sounded like a Turbine, impressive enough for me to do some Tests with it. Let’s try the Grasscutting usability...... Whow, impressive, even smaller branches get Cut. Fantastic ! I love that Whistling Sound. Than i got my maybe stupidest Idea ever, „is it able to Cut a Hedge“ ?😎 If so, i can maybe built a Bar with 4 or 5 of those cutterdiscs as an Hedgecutter, fired by an 12V high Power brushless DC Motor, combined by a Belt. Let‘s try and see what happens.... Dang, it works... oh, let‘s try here... oh, nice and there.... oh yes, it can. ok, to be honest, it is not the cleanes Way to cut a Hedge, definitely not but it was definitely the funniest and impressivest Way i ever Cutted a Hedge. Just have to think about, what Kati say‘s if she see those Chaos...😎 Hey Honey, sorry, it was just a Try....😂 but i must do that, ya know me.... Tractorhead 9,064 #121 Posted July 6, 2019 WTF....😱 doing today my inspection on my Potatoes, not only a Stipp visite just on few plants, i do a close inspection to every Plant an found my Horror... 😱 but just on one Plant actually, ok some new eggs on different Plants but one was looking like That... it was alive and fully of aphid and Colorado beetles.😢 damn, i hoped to prevent with coffeepowder, to keep them away. On most Plants it seemed it works, neither aphids or Colorado beetles, but on one Plant it aint. Don‘t know what was the difference, because all the Plants in the Same row, same status same care and nothing on first view that give any sign what could be the reason for.🤔 Then i helped our landlady, to repair the Garagedoor. some things was rusted and i changed them with some new Steel. i make new Mountings, mount them so that the Garagedoor can be closed with one Hand again. She asks me, no pics in internet. 👍 After the Work we cleanup the Garage together, if i heared a loud Scream.. Then she begin to laugh, 😳 she told me for a second she see something acting and was frightened by this... After her first scare, she catches „Kermit“ we both laugh, then she give Kermit a new Home on the Pond. 👍😂

Tractorhead 9,064 #124 Posted July 6, 2019 Ah, thanks buddies. yap, my new „Bushmaster“ works similar to a Chainsaw.😂 same dirt, same danger but much more Fun and Sound. Maybe a Full body condom will make the Deal.😂 Like the Turbine styled Sound of that thing.👍😎 had ordered a second one of my Flying Blades 😎 normally before just as spare, but hum....🙄😇😎😂 What a Week, yesterday on later evening, after i did the Weldings a bigger branch riped with a loud Crack of from Our Cherry Tree while stronger Winds occur. It drops close to my Car, but glad Kati‘s Car wasn‘t that day at the Parking Area and also i set the Wheelhorse a little more aside prepared for Mowing. Otherwise it has new Roofdesign..😱🙄 or even worse my Wheelhorse will be damaged 😱😎 It parks normally unter that Tree... 🤔 Cutting today lot of dead wood out of that Tree. Think i will fell it in autum, but at least few Branches more must definitely gone, because they‘re death wood too. That‘s also a reason, why i push the build of the new FEL that hard because i also added a 4 Port Valveblock, i also wanna be able to implement more things like a Croc clamp instead on the Shovel, to Pickup some Things easier, but therefore i need urgently some Steel and the both Liftcylinders, they still on the Way. then i implement the new Hydraulicadapters and mount the both Quickmountadapters to the Frontliftcylinder. This is now done and still wait for the rest Plumbing and mounting of the other Parts like Upper Consoles, Valveblock and hoses.. while all those things are hangin together nothing can be finalized without the Other. A Worse situation... Yesterday the Starter on my Car dies fully, but the new one is gladly arrived today.. Think for the change i wait on Monday and change it after Work in the Workshop, where i have a hydraulic Ramp to lift the Car. Then the change is made in less than 1/2 hour, if all fits and i didn‘t must lie on the Floor.
