Days off is a good plan.

Obviously you need a nice big new workshop.

Make sure you get enough land to build something around "indoor arena" sized.

We have 5 acres waiting for us. Just want to get a house situated first, then the arena 😂

-17*F here this morning, warm compared to what is coming after Monday. More snow - almost 4" the last two days again with another 4" predicted for tomorrow morning along with 30mph winds, again. Wednesday, high of -13*F, without the wind chill. It's open Prairie here, so nothing stops the winds and this last year has been brutal with a lot of tree damage. We already have warnings out about next week and wind chills hitting somewhere around -50*F. There are a lot of times it is actually warmer in Alaska, figure that one out. I've threatened to move to the desert Southwest, the older I get - the better it looks.

Hay Jim @WHX21, is that Zuehls Heating and AC guy any good?     :ychain:

Naww....the guy that runs it is a real bozo...:occasion-clown:  Employees are glad he's gonna sell out and retire in couple of years!

This is an odd winter for sure. We have only 2 inches or so of snow on the ground. It was unusually warm here early this winter. Most of our moisture so far? Has come in the form of rain :confusion-scratchheadblue:. If it had come as snow? We would have about 2 feet . Last nights low here was -13f. Today? We are up to +10f. The price we are going to pay for this heat wave? 7 to 10 inches of fresh powdery snow, starting this afternoon. Then strong winds. Just when I thought it was going to be a "Lucky" winter. Then straight into the dumper. With, air temps in the mid to upper 20's BELOW zero f. And wind chills in the -50' to -60's :handgestures-thumbdown:. We are still hauling concrete in this weather and pouring outside. BRRRRRR. Hold on folks. Its almost spring.....

You need to raise the proof of your adult beverage to prevent your stated concern.

At least during winter months, in the northern US states, if severe low temps threaten.

The "proof" (my example shown below) is acceptably consumable at higher ambient air temperatures, however, but offers additional protections in more hostile arctic-like temperatures.

I've had this consumable in the freezer and it doesn't freeze.

FYI.

What Is the Freezing Point of Alcohol?

75.5% alcohol: (Unfortunately Bacardi is no longer producing this proof rum, but remarkably there's always someone to fill a market vacuum.)  :occasion-xmas: Skoal!

If in doubt, and things are really digressing quickly, grab the Everclear.

About an hour south of me now. About 13 hours south of where we plan to move later this year. 👍 You can stop in for a rest when you head to the condo :laughing-rolling:

Winter wonderland my rear  ...this it what we are getting today. MN boys @Shynonare getting hammered too. A foot down already and blowing. Guess I picked a bad year to do a refresh on the deuce.   Earlier I couldn't see the sign on the police station and its only twenty yards away from my shop door! Really powdery and drifting. The snowmobilers will be happy first time the trails will be open around here in a couple of years.  Least its up to a balmy 14 degrees. Wind chills to -50 by Wednesday they say. :occasion-snowman:

Yeah we've had a bit of a cold snap here and there in Maine as well.

I went out the door this morning to start the car and I thought to myself it really wasn't that bad out there.

Then I realized it's only 18 degrees.

When you think 18 degrees is really not that bad you know it's been toooooo cold.

Reminds me of a Border Collie a hill farmer I knew had some years back. It never went in the house and wouldn't sleep in a kennel or one of the buildings. Always on the house doorstep. Rain or snow. Open the door and there he would be. Soaking wet or under a pile of snow. Nothing bothered that dog and he lived to a good age.

As far south as good ole Virginie we’re supposed to have the coldest temps in over two decades.  Crappy part is I stayed home from work with a stomach bug and couldn’t even get out today - 56 degree high!
