44” 2-Stage Snowblower Impeller Repair

Hi Guys. 

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the impeller(blowed) on their 44” 2-Stage Snowblower bending on breaking? If so, did you repair it to the same specs or modify it to be stronger and less susceptible to damage?

Also, is there another make/model or aftermarket impeller that will fit into this blower?

This Is What Mine Looked Like And What I Did To Fix It And It Works Great, No Vibration What So Ever . Hope This Helps.

It's not necessarily that the impeller is "weak" as technically the only thing that is supposed to be getting in there is snow or snow/ice combo, the shear pins on the auger are supposed to break when something (such as a brick or cinder block) gets in the way and ate by the auger...yes mine was bent rather badly as well I straightened it as best I could ground down all the rough areas sand blasted then painted it as well as added an impeller paddle extensions kit to "zero" the clearance between the impeller and drum, so far so good.

Fun times. Had chunks of asphalt from the DOT snow plow banks get wedged in there, newspapers from the idiot who keeps throwing them in the driveway before it snows, ect. ect. Bent but not damaged like yours is. It's a pain because the whole thing needs to come apart to get it out. Next time it's getting "beefed up". I'd rather burn and or snap a belt as those are MUCH easier to change.

I've  done this a few times myself...my original impeller had 4 flights with hd gussets (p/n -3). Now you can only get - 1 impeller...not near as strong and don't throw material as well. I use 2 522xi for commercial snowblowing.,.made welding fixture to replace flights and gussets.....and I hard face the leading edge.

I wish the steel on the flights was a heavier gauge so they weren’t as apt to bend. Also, it would be nice have bolt-on replaceable flights like they have for tillers👍.

I was helping out the guy who owns the machine shop across the street clear snow away from the building after a big storm a few years ago when I felt a big thud near his employee enterance. I sucked in a piece of cordwood they were using as a door chock😵🙄😫

Haven’t had the guts to “zero clearance” the flights yet but definitely thinking about it. We get a ton of heavy, wet snow near the coast so I’m sure that would help!

That Sucks !! It Never Fails Then When I try To Help Someone Else Out Whether It's Mowing, Snow Blowing Or Rototilling, There's Always Something " Hidden " That They Forgot To Tell Me About. But Hey Guess What, My Equipment Has That Keen Sense In Finding Objects That Are Hidden And Forgotten About LOL. Found A Dog Run With About 50' Of Cable Once, Thought It Was Closer To The Tree So I Wasn't Paying To Much Attention Until The High Grass Came Alive And Scared The Crap Out Of Me And Before I Realized It Was The Cable, It Shut Me Right Down Rather Suddenly To I Must Say LOL. Luckily No Damage, Just An Hour Lost Pulling Out Kinked And Bound Up Cable. I Finally Installed My Rubber Paddles On My Auger Yesterday And They Made A Nice Difference All The Way Around, Very Glad I Installed Them. Although They Were A PITA To Do I Must Say, But I Pulled My Unit Off And Put It Up On My Bench To Install Them Which Did Help.
