314 clutch peddle not self returning

To engage the clutch, I have to give it a little toe up.  Well lubricated.  What should I do?

Sounds like a spring issue check where the rod connects to see if spring is there.

What is the model number and serial number of the tractor?

They used different designs for the pedal return and the numbers will show us what you have.

They had 4 different systems. Spring only, spring with a hydraulic damper, strut only and spring with little damper that only came into play at the end of the idler arm travel. I'm betting the last one is what you have but, like Garry said, we need the specifics on your tractor. In any case I'd remove any gizmos and just use a spring. Most likely problem solved. :)

Tractor is a C120 (314).  Thanks for the help!

Could this be the spring we are talking about?  314-82019-01-01-15-50-07.jpg.397e62604b1cd42015a2b673d42f4e86.jpg

Not sure on that one . The one I'm thinking of is on the left side back by the brake

I agree with tool crib , on that spring location , little detail I added to that was to lubricate the tight fitting drag points, lets it work as it should, pete

Number 48 is the spring for the pedal return.

It hooks into arm #18.

https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro/mowers-lawn-garden-tractor/21-14k801-314-8-toro-314-8-garden-tractor-1985/clutch-brake-and-speed-control-linkage/

The other end of the spring hooks into a web or brace above the left axle housing - all part of the transmission casting.

This is not necessarily your tractor model.

The tractor data decal should be under the left side of the seat on the rear fender pan. If it is not there post all the numbers off the engine decal including the serial number.

The C-120 is a 1974-1977 model.

The 314-8 is a 1985, 1993-2001 model.
