That horse was the horse that started us collecting wheelhorses. It was drove threw a swamp with the fly wheel spitting water at me back in 1998 i want to say. so that might have been part of its issue. LOL! 2

bellevillerod 835 #55 Posted December 27, 2018 Great work and nice project. Glad to see that I'm not the only one that has to climb over an around stuff to work on my tractors. I told the wife that we are IN NEED of a new pole barn. I'll be watching this to see another horse reborn and given new life.

ebinmaine 68,887 #57 Posted December 30, 2018 Trina and I were able to spend two or three hours working on this tractor again today. We removed the brake system and cleaned up the shoe holder and she installed a new shoe from @rmaynard Bob. Trina also wire brushed the outside of both axle shafts and then I finished cleaning one of them up a little with sandpaper and installed a seal on that side. And installed a seal on the brake shaft. Note the wonderful pile of gunk on the floor... There was vast Gunk removal from both sides of the transmission. She also removed the drive pulley and as seen in the picture below she pulled the seals out on that side of the tractor. 6 2
Daron1965 644 #58 Posted December 30, 2018 Great work. It appears that this tractor is going to be another awesome tractor in your herd. You guys make a great team, and do great work. Any names picked out for this one yet? 2

I'm quite sure in due time it will come up with an identity for itself like the others have.
ebinmaine 68,887 #61 Posted December 30, 2018 We finished cleaning up the transmission and reassembled the brake mechanism, adjusted it, installed the drive pulley, new Stens belt from A - Z Tractor, a better used idler pulley, and both hubs. The hubs are much newer HD type with 2 set screws.. Of course with lug bolts... Next we'll put the rims and tires that were on the 1267 when I got it. Same size rim with new/excellent chevron style turf tires. It'll get chains for traction later. 5
ebinmaine 68,887 #62 Posted December 30, 2018 This horse is back on its own four legs, so to speak. Now for the rewiring and a new gas line and we'll be good to go. We hope. . . . . . . . . 4 3
ebinmaine 68,887 #63 Posted December 31, 2018 Not much time to mess around with the tractor today but I was able to use the pilot light as recommended by Richard @953 nut to sort of, reuse the old one as well. I put the guts and the nut and washer from the new one onto the original lens and it looks like it should hold okay. I also got another ignition switch for this one. I went with a Standard part number US14. This is a direct replacement for the switch that was in the tractor even though it is not actually correct for Wheel Horse application because it actually is a 4 position switch. As much as I love putting things back to the way that they were built, sometimes it isn't justifiable to me. This switch was nearly half the price of the Cole hersee switch.
ebinmaine 68,887 #64 Posted January 2, 2019 @jebbear I used the picture you sent me of the harness that you built to make my own for the 867 tonight. @953 nut and @WHX21 I used the schematic that you folks posted a few months back to wire this thing up tonight. Mother Nature decided to give us some heavy wet nasty snow overnight so we had to spend some time today snow blowing and plowing which I guess I can't be too about in consideration that that was also Wheelhorse time....but because of that I wasn't able to get as much done on this tractor is I had desired. No worries. 3

ebinmaine 68,887 #67 Posted January 5, 2019 I drove it around a bit this evening. Do all Kohler 8s have an inherent ticking (both of mine do it) or do both of mine need a valve replacement/adjustment?
The Tuul Crib 7,338 #68 Posted January 5, 2019 So far I haven't heard that ticking sound out of my kohler 8. Just that sweet sound that they make when they're running!
The Tuul Crib 7,338 #69 Posted January 5, 2019 I got this engine from A-Z tractors and I must say they treated me very well on this one. Kudos to Lincoln !!!
