Thanks ED Ed, the 2stage I got and refurbished came from a guy who had a gravel driveway as well, he just added wider feet as you can in the pics before I painted it then the bright red paint are based on the originals but I made them from thicker and wider material, but I believe I kept what the PO had on there, Jeff. Xearl 131 #5 Posted December 1, 2018 Nice set up. I might consider that. Thanks for the reply. Ed
rjg854 11,453 #7 Posted December 2, 2018 My driveway is close to a 1/4 mile long and stone. We just had a foot of snow about 2 weeks ago. The ground underneath wasn't froze at all, yet the wheels rolled over the stone and didn't dig in at all. Actually I was quite impressed on just how well it worked. This is the 1st year I've used the wheels on the blower. I switched over to these because the skids did tear up the stone and dug into the ground. You've got to be careful blowers will blow stone just as well as it does snow. 2 1
cleat 6,300 #8 Posted December 2, 2018 Did you make that up or buy it as a kit. It looks very well made. Cleat
rjg854 11,453 #9 Posted December 2, 2018 I didn't make it, got the idea and @squonk's welder friend made it up for me, and he did a top notch job, like you said very well made!
cleat 6,300 #10 Posted December 2, 2018 Did you happen to have plans drawn up ? I wonder if that would fit the 2 stage as well (part number for the skids are different).
squonk 41,288 #11 Posted December 2, 2018 Remove a stock skid and use the mounting holes as a template. Then based on what wheels you're going to use weld a axle shaft out of round stock, bolt ect. Drill a hole in the end for a cotter pin 1
Xearl 131 #12 Posted December 3, 2018 That's a nice setup . The thing is that I don't have the drift breakers to protect the wheels so I think wider and longer skids are the answer for me
Xearl 131 #13 Posted December 3, 2018 Well I started on new larger shoes for My two stage . 3/16" x 3" x 12 " I cut a grove so I could bend them and then welded them up .
WHX?? 49,116 #16 Posted December 5, 2018 I was thinking a pair of these https://www.sepw.com/snow-blowers/accessories/skid-shoes/ or these https://www.rcpw.com/aftermarket-snowblower-skids/1250.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAp97CBRDr2Oyl-faxqRMSJABx4kh9JHRxKV9JtIKqiX9xQp9LPIEraUBlZDoqfuIJnfLZPBoCdPnw_wcB but they ain't exactly given them away. Like the wheels thing too.

Xearl 131 #20 Posted December 7, 2018 First picture . This is made from a Rover power seat motor . 2 & 3 Window regulator motor from 2001 Silverado window regulator . I found that a 12 point 3/8" drive socket fit over the gear on the regulator and a 3/8" to 1/4" fit the shaft . Mounted the controls to the shaft support .. I guess I should have posted this as new or somewhere else . 3
