Dadlife520H 195 #1 Posted November 26, 2018 Recently I got pretty frustrated by the price of chute retainer clips. Realized my friend has a 3D printer and we got to work. I feel like the time I've spent trying to find obscure parts mixed with the fact that they are priced absurdly once found is just not acceptable. Here is our first finished piece with a few strength updates. Any ideas for parts or pieces are welcome. Think I just added a secondary hobby to my hobby..... 6 14

peter lena 8,461 #3 Posted November 26, 2018 good going on that, I regularly think out of the w/h box. that looks like Teflon/ poly material ? that's what I use, along with SUPER / LUBE Teflon based lubricant. making that chute base steering area move easily is key for quick snow direction. pete
rmaynard 15,309 #4 Posted November 26, 2018 @Dadlife520H Our local public library has a 3D printer, but the product it puts out is junk. How long did it take to produce the part? What is the material? What did it cost?

We are going to see how they hold up in the cold. We did order some new stuff and will make a few to compare materials.

The plastic roll for the printer is relatively inexpensive, however the printer and computer software were over $2,000. Probably about 4 hours in programming and 4 hours to print at 50% infill. The material is PLA Edited November 26, 2018 by Dadlife520H

Those types of things?

Sarge 3,462 #12 Posted November 27, 2018 All those plastic bushings are far too thin/brittle to be 3D printed - if you want to replace those items use a bronze bushing, generally referred to as Oilite. Sarge
Dadlife520H 195 #13 Posted November 29, 2018 I have an update! Got 9" of good heavy stuff last night, the prototype retainers held up great. 2
cleat 5,706 #14 Posted November 29, 2018 Just for information. The 2 stage snow blower uses the same retainers. Keep up the great work. Cleat
