Our health is often one of those things and yet if we open our eyes and our hearts, there are so many people around us that are hurting. I have prayed for your siblings and family today upon hearing the news. Thank you for the positive update in the above post. It reminds me of the old proverb, “As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.” Please keep us posted on this situation as you feel led to do so. I greatly appreciate it. My brother is just shy of 6 feet, MAYBE 130 pounds soaking wet. He’s always had a high metabolism, the guy can out eat anyone I’ve ever met. One of his favorite things is pie, so to help him along the road to recovery I sent him home with a quarter of a 10in pumpkin pie 😂. It’ll be gone before 8am tomorrow. Since he’d been made to sit still so long (Waiting room, X-ray, Etc) we let him roam around the house as he pleased, even though his ankle is in the state it is. He didn’t wander long when he got up, but he didn’t stay in one place long either. All three of us are the restless types, and you could see he was just happy to not have to sit still. We had a truly happy Thanksgiving. I greatlly apprciate everyones thoughts and prayers. Just goes to show that they do get answered. 3

dells68 7,498 #31 Posted November 24, 2018 @Lengerich8, having a son with mild issues from a stroke makes one realize just what worry is when it comes to family. Emory is now experiencing some hip issues and I worry everyday. Just rest in knowing that you are definitely among friends here. I have many friends here, many that I have met at the big show and many who I haven’t yet had the pleasure to meet. No better place on the web. Prayers for you and your family. 1

I’d seen your most recent post, and the response to it from the community is kind of what compelled me to make this one. Right before I found this forum I’d deactivated my FB account because it had become such a toxic thing. On FB, where I only friended blood family and people I actually cared to keep in touch with, I wouldn’t post such a thing anymore. I picked up on the wholesomeness (for lackof a better word) of the folks here right from the beginning. I don’t know more about what’s going on with Emory than what I read from your last prayer request, and it’s not something that one askes a stranger. I can hear my moms voice “It’s not polite to pry!”, but you and your family have been in our thoughts as well. 1
dells68 7,498 #33 Posted November 24, 2018 @Lengerich8, if you go back far enough here, you will find that I have shared Emory’s story openly before. He had a stroke prior today birth which resulted in diminished use of his right side. Everything from speech to movement was affected. After lots of therapy, the only real lasting issue is use of Emory’s right arm and hand and he has learned to use it quite well. Most folks wouldn’t notice if they didn’t know. I’m very proud of him and all he has accomplished. While he has great difficulty making sense of symbols such as letters and numbers, he has developed the ability to process everything he hears or that is read to him. He even passed his 3rd grade state reading exam simply by having him it read to him. Same is already true this year - he scored a 100% on his 1st 4th grade VA Studies benchmark, which as I understand was quite a difficult test. His reading comprehension and vocabulary are now at a 5th grade, almost 6th grade level. Please know I’m not bragging about him, just so very proud of him and the way he has dealt with the cards that were dealt him. Long story to say that the power of prayer is a powerful thing. Love your brother and sister and celebrate who they are. This is a great place to share!

Im glad that Emory is doing well, and I hope this last episode doesn’t slow him down too much for too long. 1
