Older short chute blower

Hi! I'm an old Wheel Horse owner, but new here. I just bought a 1990 520H in really good condition. I have the mower deck, snowblade, and a cab. I've been looking for a snowblower and my friend gave me one that he had in his collection and thought might fit. The ID tag is gone but I can describe it. Short chute cable controlled. Rollers instead of skids. It does have the side extensions making it wide. I'm guessing it's around a 1970 model, possibly a 6-6214. Is it possible for this to fit my 520H? The FREE price is right! I would appreciate any and all help. I've been using this sight but never registered. You guys are great and very good at what you know! Thank you!

If it is a 6-6214 it should fit.

Snowthrower DNA

All have 2 idler sprockets for the drive chain. Started out as 37" wide and the added wings make them 42" wide.

1966-67 model ST-376

1968 model 6-1211

1969 6-6211 plus 6-9111

1970-72 model 6-6212 plus 6-9112

All without front quick hitch so not a direct fit for 1973 and later tractors. Snowthrower rear frame mounts in the front of the tractor frame using 2 bushings and a long 3/8-16 x 8-1/2" bolt.

1979 model 96-42ST01 - and this one plus 1980 may be all the same. They started using a different model number for each model year.

1981-82 model 06-42ST02 - (First model to use plastic collar for the chute but was a retrofit for older models. Last model to use wheels)

1983 model 06-42ST03 - (First model to use skids)

1984-87 model 06-42ST04 - (Last model to use a 3/4" diameter driveshaft)

1987-89 model 06-42ST05 - (First model to use a 7/8" diameter driveshaft)

1990 model 06-42ST06 - (Last model to use chute cable)

1991-93 model 06-42ST07 - (First model with tall chute retained by 3 individual grooved retainers)

 @Dad520H Does it have a threaded bolt that passes thru the frame or does it attach to the front attach-a-matic with a rod.

If it has the welded in round rod that hooks into the attach-a-matic, it will fit.   If it has the long 3/8" bolt and two spacers that bolt to the tractors frame, it would require some modification.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it is tach-a-matic, and all fits like a glove! This old blower needs a new paint job, but runs great. 5-8" Snow coming early Sunday morning. Probably wet, heavy. Just have to take her slow. Thanks again, everyone!

Another question:

Has anyone ever tried to make a tall chute out of a a short chute, and is there really a greater advantage of one over the other?

I've had both and I never saw a lot of difference in their performance..      Both tend to clog in the wet heavy snow.   For that , you need a two stage.

     I do like the worm gear chute rotator on the tall chute better than the cable drive on the short chute.

Thanks, Ed. I had a tall chute on a John Deere 48" single stage. Would blow snow like a champ if it was "the perfect snow". Plugged up easy when wet, they all do. The gear drive chute definitely better.
