ebinmaine 67,277 #1 Posted November 19, 2018 The plow I have installed on the Patriot horse has some sort of junk built up around the pivot from the previous owner. It's difficult to move because it is Gummy and somewhat Frozen up. I figured on degreasing that some and then putting appropriate cold-weather lubrication on it. What do you all use? Thanks, in advance, for your answers.
midpack 862 #2 Posted November 19, 2018 I just use light oil, whatever is in my squirt can (5-30) or WD-40 spray to get in deeper. 2/3 times a year maybe. there may be better alternatives, but this is what works for me
Lane Ranger 10,946 #3 Posted November 19, 2018 (edited) If you take the chrome cap off the plow frame and blow it out with an air compressor that will help. I add 3 snd 1 oil and I use a grease gun. The pin gets rusty, dirt does clog and the hole on the plow end gets blocked too. I had to replace a rusted cotter pin in that one inch hole on top the pivot rod one time. Holding flashlight in my mouth, needle nose pliers, and a screw driver holding back the spring that rides in front of the pin! A difficult operation to say the least! The first three photos are of my 42 inch plow on my 1995 314-8 It is interesting to look at the evolution of this snowplow/dozer blade in the front end. The next photo is of the 54 inch plow for my 1054 from 1964 The next photo is of my 1962 BD-4262 Snowplow/dozer blade And fina; photo is of a RH Snowplow/Dozer Blade Front End Edited November 19, 2018 by Lane Ranger
stevasaurus 22,710 #4 Posted November 19, 2018 High pressure washer may clean it out Eric. Nothing wrong with a little oil from a can...especially one that has a trigger and shoots it. If you want something a little thicker, they make a Red Grease in a spray can. Got it at Farm & Fleet...CRC Red Grease.

pfrederi 17,667 #6 Posted November 19, 2018 During plow season nothing. The movement keeps it pretty well polished up. end of season some Wd-40 to keep the shiny metal from rusting. i do put some wd on the top cross pin as i have to pull it out and shift position to scrape a concrete apron.
