IMO, it's too close to the dash/hood. So on my 867 I committed a mortal sin and added about 2" to the steering shaft which makes it look better (again IMO) and is more comfortable and has a more natural feeling. Did the same thing. Much better!

WHX?? 48,040 #131 Posted January 26, 2019 On the decal app Terry you don't use the Windex method or does that not apply to this type of decal?

You can use the wet or (light soapy water or windex) method if you are more comfortable with that method. The dry application method is faster and much less messy for me. 1

I cut an X over the bug to remove it but wasn't able to get it all out.

Thanks Squonk Now i am really confused. That is how I had it before. Cable support over the top and hooked in the arm. I do need to get a leaking carb fixed or just buy a new carb but I starting to think I have governor issues maybe internal. So I changed it to what I saw in a manual? Still revs wide open. Think I need to call on my old friend Martin. He's only 30 minutes away Edited January 27, 2019 by Vinylguy
dells68 7,498 #140 Posted January 27, 2019 Almost sounds like the governor is out of adjustment to me. Might have been mentioned already and I didn’t see it. Check out an older thread “Kohler Governor Adjustment,” walks you through how to adjust the arm on the shaft. I’ve had this problem on a couple of the smaller Kohlers I’ve bought. 2

dells68 7,498 #149 Posted February 5, 2019 I still think that chances are that the arm on the governor shaft needs to be adjusted. Loosen the nut on the shaft, rotate the shaft counter clockwise with a pair of vice grips, pull the governor arm as far away from the carb as possible, and lock the nut back in place. This will adjust your governor and hopefully slow it down and allow the governor to control the engine speed and keep it from reving so high. Just my $0.02. We bought a suburban and the little K91 sounded like it was screaming. Adjusted the governor and it's the best running K91 we have!
