bmghog 3 #1 Posted November 8, 2018 Hi my blower mount rod broke. It's 5/8 rod but not sure what rod to replace it with. Would like to go with a threaded rod so I don't have to weld it back on. Will 304 or 316 SS rod work? In the picture the rod is circled in blue.
cleat 5,809 #2 Posted November 8, 2018 Stainless should work. Threaded rod is weaker and will wear your front hitch. You could use solid rod and thread the ends or use a long bolt if you can find one. Best bet however is to find someone who can just weld it properly. 2
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #3 Posted November 8, 2018 Plain round rod with holes drilled in the ends for cotter pins is how I would do it. Garry 3
ebinmaine 67,277 #4 Posted November 8, 2018 I don't know if they make them quite that long but perhaps a hitch pin? Those would be made out of hardened steel. If not, the big box stores often have round steel in stock to do as @gwest_ca Suggested above. 1
lynnmor 7,302 #5 Posted November 8, 2018 I would use 4130 available from McMaster-Carr, if you are going to weld it in.
