Horse Play 393 #1 Posted November 6, 2018 I bought a pretty rough RJ back in May for $250 and have been slowly and steadily been doing a shade tree restoration. Below is what I started with: 4
WHX?? 49,486 #2 Posted November 6, 2018 Nice ...rattle can is my middle name...how far along with it? Looks like you got your work cut out! Nice tub too BTW
Horse Play 393 #3 Posted November 6, 2018 I'll keep the progress photos coming. The tub turned out pretty good for how bad it was and then just being spray painted. 7
Daron1965 644 #4 Posted November 6, 2018 The trailer looks great. What paint are you using?
Horse Play 393 #5 Posted November 6, 2018 I had to pull the transmission apart and did all new bearings and seals. Also had all the parts of the back of the trailer sandblasted and sprayed with etching primer. A forum member helped me out with a nice hood. Recently a friend filled the extra holes and fixed the cracks. 5

Horse Play 393 #7 Posted November 6, 2018 First batch of red paint. I scuff the etching primer with a grey scuff pad, degrease, and spray paint out in the driveway. Two light coats then a third, heavier coat of red. 9
WHX?? 49,486 #8 Posted November 6, 2018 Just don't matter what flavor of paint Horse as long as it's RED 2

wallfish 17,112 #10 Posted November 7, 2018 NICE! I'm interested in that hacked up hood for a custom project if you want to sell it. For the Kill switch just search epay for a chainsaw switch. It's a single pole to ground switch. Original ones were the same switch as the old Homelites used

Horse Play 393 #12 Posted November 8, 2018 A sorta local forum member helped me out with this K91. I bought it without knowing if it ran or not. I dumped in fresh oil and gas - she fired up on five pulls and runs great. Transmission reassembled with new bearing and seals. 4
Horse Play 393 #13 Posted November 8, 2018 Here is where I currently am with the project. We had our first child three months ago, so the project has really slowed down. So over the summer I did a lot of painting so the paint could harden really well before assembly. - Parts sandblasted - Quick run over everything with a DA with 80 grit. - Cleaned and degreased - Sprayed with etching primer. - Scuffed with a grey 3M scuff pad - Cleaned and degreased - Two light coats of red followed by a third, heavier coat 7 4

Horse Play 393 #16 Posted November 17, 2018 Here's some pics of the mower deck that came with the tractor. Ever see a deck shell like this?
Horse Play 393 #17 Posted January 10, 2019 My friend did some great work on the hood. He filled in seven "extra" holes and fixed a few cracks. I then used a DA with 40 grit and a wire brush on the lettering - I need to find something not too aggressive to clean up the rest. 5
AMC RULES 37,141 #18 Posted January 10, 2019 Wire wheel would make short work of it.

Horse Play 393 #20 Posted June 7, 2019 Can anyone recommend an epoxy for the tank straps to the underside of the hood?

With the vibration the hood will be experiencing and the weight of the gas sloshing back and forth the only thing I would trust is having the tank straps welded on. bottjernat1 2,190 #22 Posted June 7, 2019 Mine i had wider straps welded on. Such a great machine. Yours is looking Good!
Horse Play 393 #24 Posted June 8, 2019 Thanks all for the compliments. This is the first project I took on after being a dad, so this is now the slowest project I've ever had! 1
