Mighty fine, you should have fun with this project.  Nothing more satisfying than getting one of these mighty steeds up and running again :handgestures-thumbupright:

Man do I ever love the look of those Work Horses.

I should have bought Varosd's Restored 1800 that he had at the Big Show a few years ago.

He let my Granddaughter ride it around at the show instead of me.

She ran it out of gas and was afraid she broke it.

She is in high school now but still talks about that show.

Vinylguy I will be calling on you for set of decals. I will also be sending a photo of one that's on it that does not seem to be included in your set. I will be sure to to give measurements of it also. Don't know if you can see it very well but it is one the left side by where you're thigh would be while sitting on the machine.

Are you referring to the OPEI decal?

I hope your blade doesn't have cancer! A shame it's in that shape.

Didn't see cancer but I have to check the deck at bit closer. It has a hole in it but not sure if it is from that or just had something punched thru it. Yes that was the decal, great to see you have it. I see a long road ahead but I'm looking forward to every minute of it.

I bought my work Horse brand new in 1984. I used it commercially mowing for about 8 years and did countless other tasks with it. The work Horse is a Wheel Horse through and through. I still have it and recently restored it.

If anybody knows anything about the black paint option and would have a picture I would love to see it

Since this is a 1984 hydro model. To find some parts just wondering how close this is to my  1984 C-145 hydro. Such as belts, pulleys, and maybe sheetmetal

Should all be the same.  That is one of the best part of restoring a :wh:, parts are so interchangeable.  The Briggs engine and paint color were the only real differences.

Well I finally got the tear down started! :banana-rock: Here is day one photos. Didn't expect some of the things I found but I guess that's part of it when you work on someone else's item.

That’s a common problem. I started out fixing that exact thing and ended up doing a complete restoration!

Good running 1984 GT-1800 with solid, quiet and smooth 48 inch deck. Original condition. Hydraulic lift works correctly. Great tractor. Pick up in Kasson, MN. Cash at pick up.

Can I change the hoses on my GT1800 without draining the transmission?  Thanks.

I have a GT1800 that I have swapped an M14 into.  The original drive belt is too long for the Kohler.  I tried a 7473 belt and that was too long.  I'm guessing I need an 81" belt.  Does anyone know for sure?  I'm thinking it should be the same length as a 314H?   I'm trying to avoid multiple trips to TSC with the price of gas.  Yes, I do have the correct hydro pulley on the Kohler.  Thanks.

I recently purchased a GT1800 with a blown engine with the intent of conversion to electric.
This is my first Wheel Horse and I have never seen it running. I need a little work on it but it looks sound.
I will not be hacking it up, If this project goes poorly, I would want to bring it back to stock operation with new engine.
I will be creating a blog at some point to show conversation.
Budget will be tight, I will be using parts from past projects, but motor will be new permanent magnet DC.
Voltage will be 48v, as many old lithium batteries that I can fit in. I plan to retain pto clutch.

I have a 418-c  worked great plowing over the winter.. but now is having no power pulling a load fwd.
replaced the fluid.. the old fluid didn't look bad. feels a littls better., but still significant loss of power and high pitched whine coming out of the hydro.  the lift works fine

is there a repair manual our there for the hydro?  Is there a way to reverse flush the system?   I hear sometimes the hoses crack internally and clog things up.
