Jim_M 178 #1 Posted January 26, 2008 I got the GT-14 out today to plow some snow. This is the one that had the cold start problem a month ago. It's been sitting for a month so I decided I should probably use it today. It fired up on the second revolution of the engine. It should start good though, after all the time I spent on it! Jim_M 178 #3 Posted January 26, 2008 Joel, It just covers the width of the tractor when it's angled. Do you recognize it? It works very well on this tractor, it lifts about twice as high as the stock blade would, and I can put enough down pressure on it to lift the front wheels off the ground. It has cut down decals from a 520-H and the later color of silver on the wheels, so it's not 100% correct, but I thought it would be different to see a 68 with a "modern" look. I have another 68 that has the correct 54 inch blade. But I had never used this tractor until today and it was handy to get at, so I thought I would give it a try. Jim_M 178 #8 Posted January 26, 2008 Ken, It's a Wheel Horse dozer blade, but it's for a vertical shaft tractor, Commando V-7 or V-8 (I think). It fits the this tractor really well, but it's 42" wide, it should be a little wider. If I keep it on this tractor I'm going to put a 48" blade on this frame. My buddy Steve [refracman] would probably be a good contact also on the GT14's. Don't tell him I told you this because I will deny it, but he is pretty wise about these tractors. Good person to know. Jim_M 178 #14 Posted January 26, 2008 John, They're 69's, that's about the third time I've typed 68, not sure why I do that. Old age?? I've been talking to steve already. I'm not very knowlegable about the GT-14's. Up until 8 or 9 months ago I had never owned one and had only seen one other one in person. I would like to come up with a deck for this tractor. I may even put the more modern Tachamatics on it and put a new style deck on it. Stigian 1,234 #17 Posted January 26, 2008 Some parts of the UK get quite a bit of snow, down south we dont get that much If memory serves (its not too great at the best of times ) the last snow fall that lasted more than a few days was back in 1985-ish i think. A bad winter is more than overdue and as we have had a bad summer (think it lasted 5 days ) we might well be in for a bad winter. I think if they got even a small fraction of the snow that we get here they would have to shut the country down. Obviously I don't care about keeping it 100% original so I would be open to any suggestions on mounting a mower deck on it.
