Justice77 163 #1 Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) Saw this in front of a house nearby. It had potted flowers arranged on it. I kind-of know the guy so I stopped and asked about it. It fired up on 2nd pull and he said I could take it around the yard. We made a deal and I drove it home. I think it's a Ride-O-Matic and the hood / grill are very well home made. Engine is a '79 Briggs. Trans is 50's Borg T3, a 3 spd that was used in Studabakers and Willys. Belt management is a little sketchy with a clutch rigged off of the orig. shift lever which I fiddled with and got to work better. I'm guessing slim chance on finding any orig. tin for this so one thought I have for this is to fab / find / mod a 30's looking waterfall grill and rounder hood and maybe front fenders and headlights on left and right of grill. ebinmaine saw this yesterday and after hearing my vision he had an apt phrase for it that I cannot exactly remember, but I'll paraphrase and say it's ZZ Top meets Green Acres. It came with a trailer and I loved the 1/2" dia spoked wheels as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately, the wheels are done in. eb got me thinking, and now I'm considering trying to salvage the wheels by finding 2, 18 x 4 steel motorcycle wheels for rim doner. Trailer also has stake pockets, tilt mechanism and brakes that engage on tire tread. I have a couple other projects in the works and one more that's in planning stage. I'll post some pics and progress / thoughts one of these days soon. Edited October 31, 2018 by Justice77

WHNJ701 4,165 #8 Posted October 31, 2018 I have a 57 super ram in a holding pattern to be restored, (wheelhorse projects keep side tracking me!). this is what the hood and grill you would need. the hood would be easy to make
Justice77 163 #9 Posted October 31, 2018 PM Sent. Is that a cast grill?
WHNJ701 4,165 #10 Posted October 31, 2018 the front grill is cast aluminum, a bolens versa matic walk behind uses the same grill, which sometimes you see on ebay, if you need any info mine is partially disassembled but I can get you photos and measurements. the hardest part your going to have is if you plan to put the original drive system with the reverse disc back to stock. the original engine was a kohler k160
