Fr@nk’s first family ride!

That is something that I am excited to be able to do with my son when he gets a little older.

How far away is that, now?  Rylee was 8 when I turned her loose on her Commando 800, it’s got a special pedal assembly so she doesn’t have to reach so far.  Both kids have seat mounts far too forward to be comfortable for any adult as well.

My son is 17 months old.  I already got parts around to start building him a puller which he can start at age 4 with the pulling club in my area.  He already started to show interest in the fall when I was trying to repair a different tractor that I had sold.

The hood mount is finished with modifications and the hanging weight battery box is tacked back together.  It was a little off of plumb square, so it needed some rework anyways.  I started to build a solid lift link for the mid mount grader blade as well, but not after I took my own stroll around the field and yard yesterday.

I shortened the PTO rod from a C-101 and re-threaded it.

Sorry, work on Frank tonight has been vetoed.  We’re camping in the barn!

A note to Kevin and Mrs Kevin.

Not sure if you both had noticed this but that camper appears to have a roof of its own so you could potentially park it outside and still use it.

Well, that it does EB!  Potentially when it’s warmer than 37 out we’ll do it again!  Since we heat with wood, I’m too stubborn (cheap) to heat the camper with LP!

I figured that was what you were up to. I appreciate your honesty. Us too.

Kevin and Eric—reminds me of setting up a tent in the living room, 15’ from the bathroom and 20’ from the fridge—that’s what I call camping!

:ROTF:

Kevin—sooooooo awesome to see Frank out on the family ride.  I love it!  Great perseverance and it is starting to pay off.

Well done sir!

Josh, it is starting to feel like I’m close but it’ll be the little things taking time now.  The kid’s school is getting close to being out, so priorities during the week will soon transition into finishing this bathroom project I haven’t touched since August...  :hide:

I spent some time working Frank in the driveway to warm up the transmission, then finally did the load test.  All is well, the big wheels spun at full throttle or the engine would stall at anything less than full throttle.

Enough messing around, it’s time to work on the hood and mounting it.

Are you using that as a Degreaser or a paint remover?

It cleaned the majority of the 56 years of grime off it, along with an old sanding sponge.  I will soon need to remove Frank’s one good eye, but only for a little while.

I cut a piece of 1/8” plate to weld in.  It’ll make for a sturdy front mount.

Right, wrong or indifferent, I’ve decided to weld the plate over what’s existing instead of cutting all the steel out and welding new in.

I jumped around welding about 3/8” or so at a time, with an aluminum heat sink clamped to the work piece and the air nozzle cooling it as well.  Stainless filler on the TIG machine :handgestures-thumbupright:
