Perhaps a little gentle massaging of the top on the right side will allow the end to come in on its own. Once it fits well you may want to trim the edge with some welting to fill the gap and protect the paint. I will try to get a few more pictures to help explain, but I think it’s in the back few inches where the problem lies. It’s hard to explain, but I think the mounting horn is deformed... AMC RULES 37,130 #452 Posted February 16, 2019 Might try laying a straight edge across the top, front to rear, to help you see where the tweak is, and needs to be. 1
Pullstart 62,891 #453 Posted February 18, 2019 This’ll brighten my day. Got me some longer screws to mount Frank’s new custom air cleaner Thanks again, @953 nut!
Pullstart 62,891 #454 Posted February 19, 2019 Dear Frank, You will soon have a sealed up fuel tank, thanks to KBS coating system and your main sponsor Pullstart. 2
Pullstart 62,891 #455 Posted February 27, 2019 Starting the night with KBS Klean, the first part of a three part tank sealing system. In short, this smells like Greased Lightening degreaser. I used the recommended 1:1 degreaser and hot water and added the optional handful of 1/4-20 nuts. You can see an outline on my bench where I spilled a bit of the concentrate. I shook it vigorously and will repeat a few times before draining and rinsing with water.

Toasty 52 #464 Posted March 5, 2019 I would also like to say that I really like your battery box idea. I have been struggling where to put a battery on mine how it has a Honda clone engine on it now and there is no room for a battery anymore where the stock location is. I have just been pull starting it but really want to get the electric start hooked up. Keep up the good work.

I must admit, the idea of the battery box was only executed by me, it was a couple other smart fellas suggesting where to hide it

I must admit, the idea of the battery box was only executed by me, it was a couple other smart fellas suggesting where to hide it Once the weather gets better I plan to pull it out of the shed. It took over a year to get my hood back from my cousin getting it fixed. The last owner had cut it all up to the point most people would have looked for a new hood. They had folded up the sides, cut it in half and added latches/hing. So besides the hood I have it all painted in pieces still. But here is a link of a thread I started on it. Once I pull it out I will start updating it again. For the battery box, that is what I like about Red Square is that you can run ideas across with others to help find the best solution for your own projects. 1
Pullstart 62,891 #467 Posted March 16, 2019 Hey Frank! We’ve got about 13 weeks ‘till the Big Show! Let’s finish that tank and get some progress in the books! Step 2 of the 3 part tank sealer is KBS Rust Blast. It’s an etching primer from what I understand. It’ll prep the clean surface for the sealer.
Pullstart 62,891 #468 Posted March 18, 2019 A recent post brought to my attention that these tinnerman clips have the ability to tear out. I don’t want to risk this crack disaster, there are a few hairlines and a good one. I’m going to attemp to weld these up before I finish the KBS sealer kit.

Pullstart 62,891 #470 Posted March 18, 2019 And I keep just blowing it out. So, it’s the PC-7 route to see how that works! Following my father inlaw’s suggestion, I’m thinking that too long of a bolt helps to pull this apart and I’ll keep this in mind during reassembly.
Pullstart 62,891 #471 Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) KBS Blasted again, rinsed well, blown dry and setting in front of the heater to evaporate and excess water vapors.
